Transfer Rumour Charlie Hughes (131 Viewers)

I'm more surprised we're not linked with a CF. Lampard clearly didn't trust Simms in our biggest two games after a horrific run of form. I don't see what's changed and expected him gone, yet he appears to be in the plans again.
Finding a club for him for the amount both the player and club would want is more difficult.

We’ve definitely got some encouragement from Hull if we are going to try a second bid.

Imagine if it was the twenty million, we would just turn around and say bugger off rather than wasting our and there time with another bid of just under ten million

Well rest assured I doubt Sheffield United will stump up that much. Whilst Hull are under transfer embargo you would think they would snap our hand off

Yep, if we were told that £20 million bollocks we wouldn't be considering going back would we.

Dangerous game to be throwing round those types of figures when it looks like we're keen to throw a substantial amount at this transfer. I could never see us spending £20m on him but 8 rising to 11/12 for a player they signed for 3.5 12 months ago would be hard to turn down for any club for a CB.

If they sell for less than £20m it erodes trust between the fans and the hierarchy

The owner isn't that popular with Hull fans ,so I doubt if he would care too much about the fans .

This is where football is at and where it is going now, clubs spending bigger amounts on players, stretching payments over many years. Blackpool are about to sign someone for 1m, they are mid table league one! Derby and spending a lot all of a sudden. 10m in the grand scheme of things isn't big money.
I fear your right but we have to max out in our dealings IE MVE IF WE'RE GOING maintain a balance,we don't want to be blaze about things.

I dont see why we dont go after Doyle if we're willing to spend cash like that on a CB

maybe they have access to all the data and who is more likely to go on to bigger things?
We all like Doyle here but if he is 9m and only ever going to be a championship cb then maybe this is a better bet.

Their appeal is today isn’t it? Being under an embargo means that they can’t reinvest transfer outgoings on new players which mean they may not see the urgency in selling the family silver just yet.

I can't decide what would be better business, Doyle for £10m or Hughes for £8m, or if spending that much at CB is the right decision regardless.

Maybe we're just at a point where thats the fee required for the quality to actually change our defence. Which is needed.

If it happens I just hope there are enough pennies left for a RW reinforcement.
