Same as, like when we signed grimes, couldnt remember him playing against us ? good timing though for Saturday, try before you buy option, hoping he has a shocker😂

I’d seen Grimes play a fair few times against us and he’d actually always looked very good!

I understand it’s a lot of money but without a Striker leaving we really don’t need much in do we? Maybe sign big on the CB and bring a loan in for cover?

Clubs never pay asking price anyway, it’ll be 8million plus add ons , suprised at this one if we do get him. guessing the lampard pull comes with an expensive price,

I find it so odd that some people worried about the fee and pocket watching on behalf of Doug.

"Don't worry Doug, sign patrick beaur on a free instead, dont risk your money. Spend it on a nice skiing holiday instead."

If Lampard wants Hughes, the fee is irrelevant really.
Agreed, if Blunts come in for him or fucking Blues and pull it off everyone would be going on about what a cracking transfer it is and how we're being left behind. Sometimes you gotta go all in.

If its the right player and its going to elevate us then you break the bank or consider your wage structure.

May annoy more people but I would take him over Doyle.

They'll add a sell on clause but manc will likely add a buy back and a huge sell on making any profit unlikely. Look at Trafford.

Hughes also looks like a top prospect and one I would like. Good pace, passer and a leader, all needed in Lampard's system.

It’s the pace for me. Feel Doyle might struggle in the high line we play.

Given that this and the attempt to buy Rushworth outright both seem to be fairly legit its clear there is still a decent pot to spend on the right players. Still sticking largely to the model of younger players who will gain value which i think is the right thing to do personally. Makes me wonder if there is truth in us being one of the clubs in for Kone, if we can offload a striker.

Agreed. We’ll still rely on trading players, the difference is king appears willing to buy replacements or improvements in advance (KKH)

Well Binks is gone, MvE is going, Gyokeres has gone.... and you'd think even if none of that happened Doug would have given Lampard something. It adds up doesn't it.
But people on here believe that's all been used up on Grimes and Kesler-Hayden?

There's money there. We do seem to be picking up quality over quantity and that is certainly the way as a fan base that we would prefer. Don't want a load of cheap that aren't up to standard.

Having heard of him five minutes ago seems a decent pick up if the price is right. Man City and Liverpool academies before Wigan, captain at a young age so should have good leadership which were missing, won Young Player of the Season last year (and goal of the season for a routine header - Austin’s Google scouting strikes again). Wiki says he has ridiculous passing range and he’s been capped at U21 for England. If Doug’s pockets are heavy enough I’d take this lad as an upgrade on Kitching.
Man City academy? England youth caps? Captain at a young age?

Welcome back Joel Latibeaudiere
