My thought is much the same , I suspect this might be us saying to Man City that we are moving on elsewhere because you want too much for Doyle? Of course we don’t know but it’s surely not as daft as some of the bull shine ideas quoted on here at timesCould be a simple tactic of reducing the fee man City are seeking with the added bonus of Nobbling the oppo before Saturday?
You'd have to trust the club if they are prepared to pay the sameI hope we’re not wasting all that money on someone whos played 26 games at Championship level, same money could get us Doyle who’s beyond 100 appearances
Not sure 9 million pound is a panic buyAnyone else think this reminds them of the Mowbray window where we started aiming for high quality Harrods signings and ended up signing Poundland reduced players by the end of the window?
The point I'm making is we are aiming for Hughes, it seems unlikely and then when the dust settles we realise we do need cover at CB and sign someone whos not up to scratch. Not sure 9 million pound is a panic buy
If he is valued at that price then how much is MVE ,I know he played in a different position.Wonder if it is a play to get Man City to lower prices.
Don’t clubs normally negotiate before bids go in. At that point if they do truly value him at £20 million why would we waste our time

No idea. Hard to compare due to differences like Age, position and English taxIf he is valued at that price then how much is MVE ,I know he played in a different position.
That def duel% stat, that surely cant be success rate?View attachment 45022

Think what’s more likely as per Kitching and EMC is Doug spends over value or agree terms to get them inNot sure that will happen under doug tbh
Stockholm syndrome from the last 15 years under SISUWhy are our fans terrified of spending decent money on good players?
Tammy Abraham >. Kwame ThomasAnyone else think this reminds them of the Mowbray window where we started aiming for high quality Harrods signings and ended up signing Poundland reduced players by the end of the window?
Yeah does feel like we’re aiming a bit high to me. You’d hope if this deal doesn’t come off we have a decent quality secondary target. The point I'm making is we are aiming for Hughes, it seems unlikely and then when the dust settles we realise we do need cover at CB and sign someone whos not up to scratch.
Its the sort of deal you aim to make at the start of July, giving you plenty of time if it falls through.Yeah does feel like we’re aiming a bit high to me. You’d hope if this deal doesn’t come off we have a decent quality secondary target.
It’s just the allocation of funds that wouldn’t make sense to me. Let’s say this did come off for £8m, and MVE does go. Unless we do further business we’d have spent £12m this summer but the squad still looks a bit light at RB and on the wings. That’s understandable if we didn’t have the resources but if we do…Why are our fans terrified of spending decent money on good players?

But that finance wasn't there then? Its the sort of deal you aim to make at the start of July, giving you plenty of time if it falls through.
No because we had fuck all money to compete back then and somehow, even though we’d been asset stripping for years, Mowbray still believed SISU were interested in paying decent wages to out of contract players who were clearly waiting for better deals.Anyone else think this reminds them of the Mowbray window where we started aiming for high quality Harrods signings and ended up signing Poundland reduced players by the end of the window?

We'll come back to you on that one at 3pm saturdayIf he’s marking Simms on Saturday least he’ll be fresh for when we sign him
I get it but i genuinely think we're at the point where players who will immediately improve our first team will cost very good money. I'd also expect a couple of squad players more under the 'potential' bracket to come in for significantly less.
