Barnsley insisting to play out from the back was constantly asking for trouble

Tight that. Wouldn’t blame the Lino TBH. Nice finish though.

Honestly don’t understand why any league one club would do it.

The linesman put his flag up early so I think he was actually putting up for JCH getting the deflection off the defender but I could be wrong.

Even worse if he was flagging JCH, he was miles onside.

I'm probably wrong as Chaplin took a few touches so it all seemed in slow motion. Anyway, far closer than some of the wrong calls in the midweek Arsenal game!

Don't know how the officials also missed that ball that was clearly over the goal line when their player was in our box.

Seemed clear as day that it was well over the line.

I've painstakingly put a red line on.

Just think their insistence on doing it caused them problems. Should have punished them there and a few times their number 4 got caught in his own and half

Hard to tell from that angle but after seeing it I feel he was slightly off I might Be wrong I was adamant he was onside watching it live.

Any chance you can you put the line to the defender rather than Jono? Ta

From the stands yes. The assistant on the far side “should” have been able to see that. They have to be able to “see” it has gone over and if they are not sure then play continues which it obviously did.
Why the drama anyway? They got a decision wrong. Lets not bother talking about the 99 others decisions that they got right.

People talking as if this was clearly onside need to take their sky blue shades off. If anything he looks half a yard offside at best level. Great finish though.

the defender's backside is half a yard behind Chaplin's left foot
onside

but as said , the flag went up a long time before that

I dont think anybody knew what he actually flagged for and what happened just after that. It was that far back he could have been flagging for a foul.

How shite is that commentator on that clip? First time I heard it I thought he was some kind of pundit talking back over what happened!

Should Bayliss have rolled Chaplin or Thomas? in rather than shoot?

Thousands saw it. The linesman should have seen it. It's his job and it wasn't even that close.

I was watching from the far side, in front of the press box. Chaplin gave the right back at the start of the clip a right old kick, shouldve been a foul. Then the centre back that was dallying looked like Chaplin might've fouled him as well. And at the time I thought he was offside.

It was close. We aren't talking yards onside here. This is why we need VAR. This is the perfect scenario. Give managers 2 reviews a half. Robins could have used one there after the offside was given, decision reviewed in a couple of minutes hopefully correct decision made following review.

Linell has been all over twitter moaning this was not offside, yet throughout the world cup he was slagging off var. Hates the problem and hates the solution. What do you do? You can't have it both ways, either accept the decision or bring in the technology.

And there you have it-the best referees are always in the stands and know best.

If you take a screenshot from the match and put a line across. about a 5th of his head is offside. So very very tight and you would not have seen it with a naked eye. Linesman should have given benefit to striker.

No, you are reading me wrong, I am talking about the goalkick that should have been.

Not talking about the offside.
