Stoke were never the danger. Millwall arent the danger. Saints and Ipswich are the danger. And they're coming
We';; just have to beat them

But realistically for Southampton to catch us we need to historically fuck up while they need to be perfect which can they be? They have lost recently and were not great against WBA

mboro have a decent Xmas they won’t fall away for the next few games no Fear about going to Southampton and nothing to fear Ipswich at home, can’t see that gap to 3rd getting any less

We really dont want them two going on a run. The squads both of them have, they'll start becoming winning machines.

The good news is theyre both far behind but you forget xmas there's about 6 games in 2 weeks. Alot of points to play for

Gutted about last 2 games, more so the Preston game, but some perspective...we've got 1 point out of 6 in last 2 games, but we're still 9 points clear of 3rd, Millwall, with a +31 goal difference over them.
Also over the last 6 games, none of the top 7 have done better than us...M'bro and qpr (bizarrely) have the same record ie W4 D1 L1

Start of the season I said we have to finish 3rd or 4th to have a proper chance of going up, that’ll be the minimum where we finish, looking good whatever happens

No need to get too pessimistic just yet.

Just think, we haven't reached the halfway point of the season and we are already 27 points clear of the relegation zone.

Some people need to calm down. We're in a much better position than they think. We're not the only side that will suffer injuries, illness and suspensions. We have players capable of slotting in.

We're also the only side that is currently hitting the 2 points a game target. We're on 2.2 points a game. To hit 90 points we need to average 1.77 points a game. Southampton, who some see as our main rivals now, need to average 2.3 points a game to reach 90 points. Ipswich need to average 2.16 points per game. We're still 9 points and 31 goals ahead of 3rd.

After the Southampton game we will have played away against all the sides currently in the top 6 and those that have spent heavily. The CBS is a fortress. I thought we would be challenging for a top 2 place before the season started but thought it would be Ipswich in our position. Who thought before the season started that we would win at either Ipswich or Preston? Yet these two games are supposed to be a disaster.

Winter is about here. The weather can be a great leveller. It's time to stop worrying about who is behind us and just keep putting points on the board. Yes we've lost BTA through injury but nearly everyone else is back. Rudoni will most probably be back to his best soon.

In all likelihood, and this is just common sense speaking, we will be overtaken by the likes of Southampton, Ipswich and Middlesborough if we don’t strengthen the team in January.

I’m not buying into the hype and media furore surrounding ‘Frank Lampard’s Coventry’ after a fantastic start to a season, and I will not accept we’re automatic promotion material unless we’re around the top 3 come March or April.

There are too many good teams in this league, teams with experience of yo-yoing, and we have to dig in and accept we’re not promoted yet.

For Southampton to overtake us, we would have to completely collapse, and they have one of the best runs in Championship history.

It does look to be heading towards a 4 way shoot out for the 2 auto positions.

This is our wobble moment, tough away fixtures combined with injuries and illness and we still look as good as anyone we are playing. If we can emerge into and through January without collapsing, we still have a huge chance.

I have us picking up 15 more wins from the last 26 games, which puts us on 89 without any draws included....

I think it will go all the way to the last couple of games. I hope we can secure it away at Blackburn infront of 7000 away fans.

There seems to be this weird idea that all other clubs are going to go on amazing winning runs. The most likely thing to happen is for the season to carry on the way it has in the first half.

Almost half of the season has passed, and so far only us and Middlesbrough are on target to get more than 81 points. On current projections we only need another 37 points. That is 1.42 ppg.

For that rate to change significantly, several clubs would need to improve dramatically.

If anything, the teams in 3rd - 8th usually start to throw away points in the second half of the season as those lower down start fighting. So I really don't see the points target changing much. We have 90 as a benchmark but it will be a fair bit lower than that

Given where we are we are definitely automatic promotion material, I'm not sure how anyone can say otherwise?

Fair to say squad size is the one thing that has the potential to bite us on the arse, but that can be remedied if the will is there to do so.
