Because it’s an interesting discussion point with someone who’s stood up for the tiki taka managers more than most (Guardiola, Kompany, Martin, ‘Enzo’) and dismissed criticism of their playing styles as preferring the long ball game instead.
It’s a simple enough question anyway: how would you describe this season’s tactics? I can sum it up in three words but interested in your thoughts.
I don't dismiss criticisms as hoofball. Maybe that helps your argument to say that but it ain't true.
And I'd say the facts are in my favour
Guardiola - on of the greats
Kompany - bundelsiga winner and now currently setting records
Enzo - won conference league and club world cup plus championshio with Leicester
Martin - won promotion but been shit recently no doubt
Where are the opposing managers that people love?
Edwards - promotion then relegation.
McKenna - double promotion then relegation
Dyche - keeps teams up or midtable. Went Everton and didn't change his style
My point has always been that people like to shit on the managers I stand up for but the managers in my list go on to the very top. That's undeniable. That doesn't mean I dislike Sean dyche. But no one is putting him down for me to need to stand up for him. Yes the tactics don't always work for struggling teams but it's not a certainty that they won't work so I have no issue with managers trying it and learning and improving it rather than switch to a limited style
I hope that makes sense now?
As for cov I'm still not sure what analysis you want
It's a 433
We use width of two wingers and full backs to get crosses in
Our CBS push up and become extra man in midfield while other one drops
Grimes dictates okay from just ahead of them and is always available to keeper or back 4 to get the ball
Keeper plays it out quickly be it to CB or up the pitch to strikers or wingers
It's a high line though not suicidal imo
We press high up pitch but once again not bielsa level
We build up in various ways be it passing our way up the pitch using triangles or with a ball over too to pscey front 4 to catch high lines out.
