Agreed, the wings were a clear issue and I fully understand we couldn't turn down the Sheaf offer from Wrexham, I doubt we'd planned for that, didn't we try a late deal for Bogarde or whatever his name is at Villa? We were definitely short a holding player. Grimes worked so well but ran out steam. Thankfully Onyeka has plugged that and Esse, Yang andI'm not a 'recruitment truther'. I think in the main we've done very well.
I think however that we left ourselves short in the summer window and that really affected us in the winter months.
We've done excellently well in January to rectify that but we'd probably be out of sight now if we just did that in the summer.
No, but that will be the least of their concerns.Sheff Wednesday's takeover is off
If they were to start next season in admin do they get another deduction?
They should have accepted the Ashley bid. Yes they'd have started next season with a points deduction, but they were never getting promoted anyway.Sheff Wednesday's takeover is off

Looked like this bloke who has pulled out was/is a bit of a crook, professional poker player by all accounts - Wonder if it is the bloke who went on CWR and said he is close to buying us as well as forging all the solicitors documentsNo, but that will be the least of their concerns.

I dunno, I just cannot see anyone allowing a club the size of Sheffield Wednesday ceasing to existI've said before but there is a big chance of them being liquidated. I was never convinced there was a viable takeover for them.
Interestingly they’ve spent quite a bit keeping the club’s losses funded in the meantime but decided not to proceed. If they’re losing £12 million a year and also need someone to pay for renovations at Hillsborough on top, it’s a big ask.Looked like this bloke who has pulled out was/is a bit of a crook, professional poker player by all accounts - Wonder if it is the bloke who went on CWR and said he is close to buying us as well as forging all the solicitors documents
Wouldn't surprise me to see Mike Ashley swoop in at the 11th and a half hour to get it as cheap as poss, Hillsborough would be plastered in Frasers advertising next season but least they would have a club to support I guess
Tim Fisher was on record being a big Sheffield Wednesday fan...Interestingly they’ve spent quite a bit keeping the club’s losses funded in the meantime but decided not to proceed. I’m still sure they will get a white knight though.
The story says an American group is still interested, knowing their luck it’ll be Preston Haskell IVTim Fisher was on record being a big Sheffield Wednesday fan...
Maybe they could have him and Joy
No disagreement about over petofmring. Think papering over cracks is a bit different though personally. To be fair we also hadn't got a direct replacement for Sheaf which we now have. We still had a strong squad but it wouldn't be unfair to say it over-performed early season.
Too much of a simplification. No top team in world would ever thave a bad patch if that was true and most tlegaues be over by FebruaryI'm not a 'recruitment truther'. I think in the main we've done very well.

I can see William Storey making his annual appearance shortlyI've said before but there is a big chance of them being liquidated. I was never convinced there was a viable takeover for them.
You don't think our results would have been better with Esse and Onyeka in the team from the end of November? No disagreement about over petofmring. Think papering over cracks is a bit different though personally.

It isn't easy to bring in the quality players we are after without spending over the odds. We had to wait for Brentford to spend £35m on a player before Onyeka was seen as disposable. It is well worth waiting a few months from selling Sheaf and adding a couple of million to bring in the quality we have.I'm not a 'recruitment truther'. I think in the main we've done very well.

Onyeka wouldn't have done much tbf as he would have been at AFCONYou don't think our results would have been better with Esse and Onyeka in the team from the end of November?
Who did Brentford sign in midfield for £35m?It isn't easy to bring in the quality players we are after without spending over the odds. Were they available before we signed them? You don't think our results would have been better with Esse and Onyeka in the team from the end of November?
Were they available before we signed them?
Dango Ouattara. They kept Onyeka as cover as they had another midfielder injured, but when he returned Onyeka ended up 4th choice and lucky to get on the bench. But IIRC he played in 9 games for them this season.Who did Brentford sign in midfield for £35m?

He's only played as a winger at Brentford and he signed in the summer not January. He was a winger at Bournemouth wasn’t he?
Both wings and the middle. Like Onyeka plays all over the place. He was a winger at Bournemouth wasn’t he?
They said it was the reason why he became available. But I'm not surprised of the 2 people trying to say differently. He's only played as a winger at Brentford and he signed in the summer not January.
In his last 50 games he has not once played in CMBoth wings and the middle. Like Onyeka plays all over the place.
