If we replicate our form over the last 13 games, which is a run where we've been pretty terrible, we'll end up on 86 points. All the challengers outside of the autos currently would need more than 2ppg to get to 86 points. It will take some drop off from here to not make it over the line.

I noticed lol

Not that I didn't worry . Was depressed for a week after Boro best sheff utd

But now it's getting to point where yes things can go bad but also a few good weeks can make the difference. If Watford especially do their job today it's so huge for us. The games are ticking by and every week 3-5th don't gain on us is a massive shift in our favour

Agreed except for pretty terrible. It's just hyperbole from annoyed fans

We had a dip. And some bad luck. It was not really poor performances imo

Looks like for next year that throw in and goal kicks may have a 5 second rule. If going beyond, the throw goes to the other side and the gk changes to a corner. Could even be in for the World Cup.

Bookies, stat sites etc have Sheff Utd slight favourites tomorrow - could be the last game of the season we're not favoured?

Does feel like a set of fixtures where Boro/Ipswich would be hoping to make up points.
Last games, M'boro vs Oxford and Wrexham vs Ipswich, people were saying they would pick up points = Ipswich to draw and M'boro to win, but they didn't.
We, city fans, have more respect (I think that's what it is?), for Wilder and Sheff Utd than any other team in the league. Possibly because of Gus and O'Hare, but we always think they will beat us. The way we are playing at present and the personnel we now have not only in the starting 11 but also on the bench is the best we have ever had, and yet we still have jitters and fear the worse. However, FL and team do not have the same disbelief.

Our home form will very much dictate our promotion chances.

With 7 home games to go you'd hope we'd be able to win 4/5 of those. 7 wins and a couple of draws in total will easily see us over the line as that would require other teams to achieve a PPG of well over 2.0pts over their remaining fixtures.

That's unrealistic. You can't expect to do either of those actions in 5 seconds.

Our away performances were poor. I honestly don't know how anyone can say otherwise.

Same as people said our form had dropped off a cliff, when our home form was still very good.

I genuinely cant get how people weren't able to separate the two because they were chalk and cheese.

Trivia point of note. There was a question on The Chase last night asking which player had the nickname 'Super Frank'. Even my wife knew the answer

Correct. I presume it must be 5 seconds from when the thrower or the keeper is in a position to take the throw or goalkick, which doesn't necessarily speed things up as teams will just take their time getting to that point. Isn't there also a planned time limit on substituted players departing the field, which if not met will result in the subs not being able to immediately come onto the pitch?

Yeah it's two entirely different scenarios.

Over the past 8 away games - 17th in the form table.

Over the past 8 home games - 4th in the form table.

It's clear as day where the issues have been.

I'd half agree. Some of the results were largely down to poor tactics / game management rather than solely performance per say.

Preston we should've had all 3 points it was ridiculous we conceded after their sending off and Southampton we categorically would've won if not for Dasilva's red card.

For the Birmingham game we were all over the place defensively, that was a tactical shit show we should've never gone into that game so gung-ho.

The rest over the past 8 games we were pretty poor obviously bar West Brom and even then we weren't great they were awful in the final third.

Birnginhan we let shit goals in but res tof play was alright

Preston was a bad final 20.

QPR was poor

Norwich we did alright at first

It's just not full 90 mins bad perofmrsnces for me. Just bad spells during games that cost us dearly. I mean we took the lead in alot of them remember

Anyway hopefully thats behind us now

Its getting to the point for Ipswich...where the odd point here and there is no good.

They need to be picking up 3 points.

As they will get to the point where they will need to eventually win 9 out of 10/11 games which really isnt going to happen judging on their season so far.

Points on the board is massive!!

From our point of view we are already assuming they will win theur games in hand. (Which still leaves them 5 points behind us) great place to be.

In all seriousness Millwall wont get anywhere 85 points. So its just them we need to worry about.

Yeah as mentioned Birmingham was more of a tactical faux pas I didn't think the performance, certainly not from an attacking POV, was at all bad but defensively we were genuinely abysmal. Much of that was on Lampard as the set up looked wrong within the first handful of minutes and he didn't change things.

Charlton was also a pretty abject performance as well however we had illness in the camp and injuries meaning we put a bit of a weird lineup out so it's one of them where we did what we could with what we had. With a full lineup I think we would've beaten them comfortably.

Can't agree on Norwich thought pretty much every single player on the pitch bar maybe MVE was poor.

We didn’t get out of second gear against West Brom and controlled it comfortably. We’ll see what happens tomorrow against far tougher opposition but winning a game with little risk taken has to be a positive.

Granted the aim was clearly to sit in more in the second half after we were 2 up to try and play more conservatively and stifle their attack but I wouldn't really say we controlled it if I'm honest. Although we did generally look a lot more solid as a defensive unit.

We were poor with the ball at times especially in the second half and allowed them to get in pretty good positions. Their end product was easily the worst I've seen this season though. They looked terrified to shoot, players weren't timing runs or getting into the right positions in the box. They probably wouldn't have scored in 180 minutes so it was probably less of a concern than it would've been if against a better side.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how we set up tomorrow night and how we look to manage the game.

If Ipswich lose tonight, it'll be a huge hammer blow to them. 3 away defeats on the bounce, cementing the doubts about their ability to get points away from home.

If they lose and we avoid defeat, the gap to 3rd is back up to 12 or 14 points. That will feel huge to them.

They didn’t manage a shot on target till the second half and as I said, we weren’t expending much energy. Against Boro we were in top gear for the first half, then dialled back in the second. I’d expect similar tomorrow.

Yeah they were terrible first half. They looked a little bit livelier after their subs came on after the break although their end product / decision making in the final third was again still dreadful, however that's par for the course and will be until they make a managerial change.

I just didn't think we were great at all against what is a side that is completely lacking confidence and our use of the ball was pretty sloppy. But that's me being pedantic I'll admit as the 3 points was ultimately the important thing.

Perhaps we didn't feel like we needed to play with much intensity though and it's something away from home we've desperately needed to quash as it's caused us problems.

Rather than us not getting out of second gear I suspect it's more likely Lampard pre-match probably told them to keep things simple at both ends of the pitch and due to WB's form we would've found a way to score without much risk of conceding.
