Nerves perhaps...but the small tactical tweaks made at half time seemed to really make a difference also.

Nah he's right, we're actually the biggest chance creators in the league recently.

It's having a striker who can bury them we're lacking. That and our multitude of accomplished yet injured defenders out obviously.

Hellberg's average PPG is 1.9, which would see us finish on 85 - 86 points.

Of course yourselves and possibly Ipswich unfortunately could beat that. Think 88 points will be enough to 90% guarantee autos personally, though it could also be lower.

If they're gonna press high it might be a game for Wright as he's better with space to run into.

I want our front 4 to run themselves into the ground for the first hour and then can change the front 4 to continue the intensity.

The average placing of a side we've faced since he came in is 12.8th (yours 11.6th in that period) so average really. 5 Homes, 5 aways, same as you.

We have had the most first teamers out injured in the championship in his reign though (quite a few long term, ie will be out for months, especially in defence) since our number of those went past Millwall's from before he arrived.

We know that pain with having a lot of players unavailable through injury or illness.

Snap and I want no parachute teams to go up at all.

I'd quite like Preston or Millwall to do the Wembley win, assuming we both get the autos if course.

Apologies mate. It stems from my mother being a meticulous school secretary. Blame her - I'll desist from now on ( mostly!)

I don't see Middlesbrough averaging more than 2 ppg until the end of the season so 87 would secure it for us if they get exactly that. So 85/86 still feels like it could be enough to me.

Ipswich are exactly the same, 47 points with 20 to play. It's unlikely, although not impossible, that both can average more than 2 ppg.
Interestingly at GW 27, Middlesbrough are currently underperforming last year's 2nd place team by 6 points, and last year's 3rd place by 4 points. Ipswich have a game in hand so by GW 26 they are underperforming last year's 2nd & 3rd placed teams by 5 points.
Also last year was a bit of an anomaly with 1st & 2nd getting 100 points, and 3rd failing promotion on 90.

I didn't mention Ipswich as I think they will average 2ppg from here.

Just don't see Middlesbrough doing it. They're on 1.8 this season, 1.2 over the last 6, 1.9 over the last 10.

32 from 19 for us (1.7 ppg) feels so doable. Its going to be an absolute killer if we don't make it.

And obviously if we keep tracking at 2ppg the likelihood of both Ipswich and Middlesbrough finishing above us is close to non-existent. Both would need 2.3 ppg from here. Middlesbrough are not winning 13 drawing 5 and losing 1 out of their last 19.

If that 1 loss comes at the CBS it makes it nigh on impossible.

It is the same weekend we play Blackburn away

Could be a real chance to go 2 points ahead of both or 3 on the other

Unless Middlesbrough drop off, or unless we’ve fallen off a cliff, a draw would be best. Certainly would be if they were playing tomorrow.

I think Lampard's approach to this will be very simplistic. Win the next game and maintain a points gap.
If we drop points, reset and go again.
I doubt he's got a points target in mind.

It can all change in a couple of games. could of quite easily been only a 3 point gap today to mboro , tomorrow it could be 9, 10 with our GD. just keep doing what we’ve been doing and we’ll fine, we had our little rest,

I want any of the sides ( bar Ipswich and Boro) to strengthen, particularly those we have played twice ( like Blues), as they are then more likely to take points off Boro and Ipswich. Crazy what things go through your head when you're looking for little advantages we can gain.

Just to clarify, will the league now be ‘good’ if Ipswich break into the top 2?
