Puts it even further into perspective how utterly pathetic our effort against them was.

I know he's not popular around this board, but I actually think he's a half decent manager who's done alright there steadying what was a bit of a chaotic ship.

I think the Pearson sacking might have a lot to do with these comments directed to the board after they beat us

'Irritated' Nigel Pearson indicates his position as City manager is under threat

Bristol City manager claimed the "chips have been down" over the international break as his side emerged victorious over Coventry City at Ashton Gate
www.bristolpost.co.uk

“I can say what I want today and there might be one or two barbed comments from me, and they are, but I’m not bothered because it becomes a situation in which I might be fighting for my job like everybody else is - whether the players are fighting for their place, I might be fighting for my job. I don’t really care what other people think.

“My position’s not been secure, which irritates me,” Pearson added, when asked to expand on his words. “Why don’t you ask somebody above me, for once, see if you can find somebody who’s going to say anything. The last two weeks have been very irritating for me, I’m not exactly in the best situation but I’m fine, and I’ll get better and I’ll honour my contract so we’ll see where it goes.”

We could have been beaten by Leicester and Ipswich in the last two games and the needing to gel point would be equally valid

I really don't see why it's such a shock that an entire new attack and an entire new defence doesn't come out the box being a well-oiled machine!

I want to agree but frustratingly Cardiff are an entirely new team and don’t seem to have any problems adapting.

This whole “it’s a new set of players, they need time to adapt” is pure smoke and mirrors.
By the same logic Forest would’ve gotten relegated with games to spare because they bought an entire new squad after their promotion.

Give them a bit more time sure but I think we’ll find most of our new signings are simply not good enough.

Don't really get the point of your posting recently. Every post is the same, if you hate everything that's going on so much, why don't you just go and support your local team?

You can always find examples of teams that do, but then you can always find examples of teams that don't.

Barnsley ended up relegated after a playoff appearance - good enough example?

I remember a few years back people were begging us to be like Blackpool - why can't we be like Blackpool? It completely missed that their promotion was a one-off, and then of course they plunged backwards because the foundations weren't there.

At least this pre-season we've been trying to build some foundations after years of the very fabric of the club being stripped away!

(Next step, going the normal route for a Japanese tutor, and a default private route for a medical scan!)

Again, just pluck today's Blackpool, what does that show?

How about Stoke, who churn endlessly and fail endlessly? Bristol City? Ipswich are being hailed this season, but let's ignore the season after season they've punched woefully below their financial weight eh, because it suits. Queens Park Rangers, what a fine example of how signng seven players makes all the difference to league form. Derby sign nine players and are flying along in ninth in League One. Reading signing 12 players has meant they've taken their relegation in their stride.

Let's forget that last season part of the reason we started badly because our kid of a centre back, who had no experience at this level, started as if he'd never played pro football, was caught out of position a fair few times, and looked shaky as. And of course he came good... but he wasn't our's.

So, as ever, we've had to start from scratch because we have no foundations, we build each season after losing a spine and we saw what that did with Mowbray's team when he lost Armstrong, Murphy etc - no cash to replace loans of course!

So we can look at the temporary, or we can aim for the trend, and aiming for a generally upward trend might just involve a season where we don't hit the heights, but actually build a team and a club that makes it more likely we do going forward.

But Middlesbrough. Middlebrough who for nearly 40 years have been bankrolled by one of the best chairmen in the league, who's built them a ground, training facilities and the like already. They *have* foundations, their trend *should* be upwards.

Did they lose 2 of the best players in the division?

In fact, did they lose any key players at all or simply enhance their existing core to build a stronger squad?

Have they also completely flipped their style of play by 180 degrees?

They’ve brought in, more or less, a completely new team. Which required time to ‘bed in’…which is what was discussed.
I would also say that they’ve very much changed their style of play…they’re good now!

Im not overly concerned about our players settling in.
