Any one remember the days when CCFC were up there with the big clubs?

I was thinking of World Cup stars Coventry were trying to sign or signed like cobi jones, and that big yank centre half Alex?? And the likes of Robert jarni was it?
Roy wegeley was an awesome player to watch think he was American.
Was there anyone else we signed or tried to?

It's going to be a long long time before we see those sort of days again if at all...nice memories though

Cobi Jones. Hardly a World Cup star.

Only ones that immediately spring to mind are Mangnus Hedman and Kevin Gallacher. I know there are many others like Tommy Hutch, Colin Stein, Ian Wallace etc but don't recall if they acutally were playing for us when capped, or if they make it to World Cup Finals (footnote: why am i remembering so many scotts???).

Only recent England player I can think of COULD have been Dion, but Hoddle left him out of his final squad.

Gary Breen went with Ireland to the Japan/Korea World Cup. It was the World Cup where Roy Keane got the boot by Mick McCarthy.

He was still with us, and was just about to leave at the end of his contract to join West Ham.

It still amazes me that we signed Hadji, I remember thinking at France 98 (I think it was against Norway) that he looked like the best player I'd ever seen.

Hadji was some player. Compare him to what we have in Midfield now just shows you how far we have dropped.

Pretty sure Gallacher didn't play at the 1990 WC which is the only WC that happened during his stay with us.

How can you all forget Paul Hall?! Signed before the 98 World Cup. I had him on the purple and yellow away shirt. No idea why. Tbf though I was only 10.

Yes I think you're right Lee...I have a mental image of him missing a sitter in the USA and Barry Davies crying "Oh No!" which I think was 94.

Scotland did not qualify for the 1994 World Cup. Nor did any of the other home nations.

The only City players in that tournament were Phil Babb (RoI) and Roy Wegerle and Cobi Jones (USA).

FFS - christ knows what I'm thinking of then. Maybe it was some qualifier, or the Euros. Ignore me, I am losing it.

If it's a Scotland game where someone ballsed up, you don't really have a hope in narrowing it down.

This is going to sound very geeky but are you sure you aren't getting it muddled up with the intro to "they think it's all over"? It sounds very similar.
