What if that striker is Dominic Samuel?

I saw a few friendlies and we do lack a link man between back four and midfield. We have grafters but we still lack the midfield presence. This kid is obviously that. What's the point in having forwards if you have no supply?

Maybe it'll be Clarrie Bourton risen from the grave.

Samuel still won't have worked on any of the routines or drills or formations or stock setups that we've (presumably!) been practising.

The forward is obviously someone TM has worked with.

and? This is not news and it's not ideal, what is your point? You preferred the Pressley approach?

I too think it may well prove to be someone TM has previously worked with. That would make all the difference.

Are we not allowed to have legitimate concerns? Concerns that Mowbray himself has been open about?

So what? We could have signed someone weeks ago and they could be out with a pulled hamstring?

Armstrong has had a week with the squad, not long but sometime. I would imagine training around attacking options have been fairly intense this week. If we sign someone tommorrow I doubt they would make the bench, so what?

Not renewed Tudguy and used the extra cash to bring in Williams. Then you could bring younger loan player in with a proven league one 20 goal a season goalscorer, not Tudguy who's a 10 goal a season striker at best.

Seems he was a defender when he went to Burton.

That you don't seem to suggest an alternative route to the one TM has taken. You are the one whinging... what would you have done?

We are not displaying the signs of forward planning. This dimishes the probability of uccess, although does not preclude it.

It's like old times now on here!

I've suggested an alternative route on previous posts, you just choose to ignore it.

As per before, it's a bit pointless arguing when you just bite ankles and see what you want to, have a good evening

Ah I can see what's happened here... I've missed a nuance right? You do like a nuance and I'm not sophisticated enough to spot the buggers! Just remind me again of your alternative... unless this is the usual bail out?

What has Tudgay signed for? He might actually be offering very good value for money in what I suspect he knows is probably his last season. Someone who has the experience to handle a bit of pressure. I don't think Tudgay is here just for what he is going to contribute on the pitch with so many young players in the squad.

Its not ideal, everyone knows that. But Mowbray knows its much more important to have the right players available for the next 12 months than to sign the wrong players just so they can play in 3 or 4 extra games.

Yes. I remember some of the nightmare late in the week strikers we've signed, Dublin, Huckerby, Whelan, Keane, McGoldrick..... If only they'd played with the squad

Forward planning? TM has had to start from scratch the club had no targets or data on players at this level.

I think he has voiced his plan very well. The world doesn't follow ideal patterns, everything doesn't just drop in your lap. His experience tells him some of the best deals are to be done later in the window, especially on our budget.

It is not unusual for players to join after a few games, it is not just Coventry.

He must be one of our highest paid players.

So if he's shit on the pitch, at least the youngsters are learning to tie their laces; a cop-out.

Grant ward was pivotal to our form under mowbray. This new guy is box to box so I welcome it. Csnt have just 2cm all season long especially when Fleck sometimes doesn't always play consiststly in an attacking way.

Mock you? Jeez some people are touchy. I asked you what you would have done in his shoes and you came up with one name of one player who may or may not have been interested in coming here.

I bet he is nowhere near the wages of Williams who you thought the departure of Tudgay would fund.

our players aren't paid a lot so even being one of the highest doesn't mean that much.

Honestly Samo.....you asked me what I would have done, I told you - not resigned Tudguy and used his wages plus some extra to try and get Williams in. You said

Samo said:

Which is pretty clear you're mocking me. I really ain't that bothered. How do we know if he would have wanted to come if we haven't/didn't make an approach for him. Donny are usually pretty frugal with their budget so I can't see them paying stupid wages to sign there.

I trust TM, however I am concerned about our attacking options, and it's not a secret as TM has also stated this. The disappointing thing it it's likely that 3-4 of our new signings will likely start the season on the bench as only Vincelot and Ricketts are guaranteed starters. TM has been playing 4231 so Tudguy will start with Armstrong on the bench, Vincelot and fleck will play in CM so Morris will likely be on the bench, 50:50 with stokes/Haynes, and if Swanson was fit Lameires would likely have sat out with Swanson, Maddison and JOB starting.
