How can it be that former directors, removed from the board of CCFC for ineptness, are now board members of Otium? The result of their failings, individually and collectively, is the situation the club is in. Their business plan for the club was a shambles, resulting in administration. Can we expect more of the same? The club needs to bring in sponsors; one look at the history of the individual members of the Otium set-up will have potential sponsors turning their backs.
If the club was in bad health a year ago, the prognosis is worse now. If it were a dog it would be put down.
Even with matchday revenue from sales of tickets, pies and pints, crowds of 2,000 will not keep it alive. A 12,000 seat stadium is the height of the sisu ambition for the club, and that will not be completed for 3 - 5 years.
Bradford City were relegated from the premier league the same season as CCFC. They had similar financial problems with lower crowds and high rent for their stadium, but have come back from narrowly avoiding falling out of the football league to promotion last term. With the right owners and a good business plan, it IS possible. Sadly, with the present Captain and crew running the ship, the club is about to sink.
