@GIMOC you didn't rate Robins and don't want Lampard. You dislike Austin, Dr Clare and King. You think we wasted £40m most of our players are shit and you take a sleight at Sheaf, yet you claim to be a City fan.

Fekkin Leicester Fox shows less disregard for our club than you. Tbh I wish you'd disappear rather than spread your hatred and bullshit on this site.

Whilst I personally appreciate the nuggets we get from the ITK guys a lot of them have bias, and there sources have bias. In Gimoc's case he and his source seem to have a massive anti-king lean for whatever reason.

I think Doug's fan forum showed us that we have to be careful taking every nugget we get as gospel.

Saying he didn’t rate robins is just bollocks

Each to their own and that's fair enough. Personally I can manage without knowing a signing a day before or the team an hour before others. Most of it isn't true and what is should be kept tighter in house.

He did help develop Mount, I said that. I said with the exception of Bogle he didn't really develop any of Derby's own players.

In terms of metrics for his year at Derby being woeful:

xPts 15th
xG 19th
xG/per shot 21st
xGA 15th

There's no shame losing to Villa or Leeds but those underlying numbers are very, very worrying & clearly unsustainable for a team to consistently challenge at the top end. As I said, they were dragged into the playoffs by individual superstars playing below their true level, not due to any tactical or managerial genius. One example being Harry Wilson top scoring with 15 goals but 7 of them being from outside the penalty area, this is not repeatable stuff.

They finished 6th the previous season under Rowett as well but Lampard's team got fewer points, scored fewer goals & conceded more than Rowett's. So again, yes he has helped improve individual players (mostly for Chelsea's gain) but did he really improve Derby?

Right, so you’re using ‘x’ stats to justify this. Fair enough, these are only KPIs and whilst they have their uses, the actual stats for each category were:
6th in points
6th in GF
= 6th in GA
6th in GD

Based on all of this, they deservedly finished in the playoffs. Derby’s points total was 74 which is higher than anything Robins achieved in the Championship with Gyokeres and Hamer. In his first season as a manager…

Developing 1 player in one season is still good, why I that an asterix against him?! Now add the Chelsea and Everton players he developed there. There’s a clear track record.

If you want to go down this route, how many academy players has Robins developed in 4 seasons? I can only count Eccles. Of course the loanees we signed owe at least some of their progress to Robins and his staff.

It's the Overson effect
The mock outrage that a multi millionaire doesn't like the box prices being put up and not being allowed to swan about the place cause he's chucked the club a few quid over the years.

Being saying this for what feels like years now.

Any ITK have bias. Where that’s due to the source or themselves as there flooded with second hand information by people who will have views on them.

Not an attack just that there human beings so pinch of salt

Yes, and most likely dropping into the zone. Thought we had to sack the manager because Doug was worried about relegation?

Any manager who we would delay bringing onboard because we’re worried about their ability to handle Sheff Utd and Burnley isn’t worth hiring.

Well out of the Gimoc list who do people want. For me probably Eustace depending on if there is a mystery 5 and who the foreign manager is.

Be realistic. We could've hired Pep last week and would still be the underdogs in those games.

My read on it right now is that Lampard has been the #1 option the whole way through, Doug was probably aware he would be interested before he sacked Robins.

I'm sure a process has been conducted, but more from a standpoint of making sure Lampard is the man rather than an open view.

The timing has been deliberate to get Sheff Utd and Burnley out of the way in the knowledge that the new manager won't have much leeway with fans and two defeats to start could be very damaging.

This is of course all speculation but it's what everything seems to point to.

Maybe so, but he’s a big boy, I’m sure he could handle the fallout. I’d have to seriously question the wisdom of hiring a manager who couldn’t.

The players & Carr showed at Sunderland they can get results in tough games. Points aren't being written off.

Realistically it's just a good decision, imagine if we lost heavily at home to Sheff Utd on tele with Hamer/O'Hare scoring. Would be an absolute disaster for the new manager.

I also think these things take more time than they realise. For example, people need to be available for interviews, they need time to get their people in and bringing them in at a point that’s ideal for the players too. If we weren’t going to get a manager announced before tomorrow, then we’re not going to have the new manager take charge before Burnley because of the turnaround in games.

It's not about handling anything though, in fact one of Lampard's strengths has been facing the media and fans.

Having seen the reaction to the sacking and the fan forum, it's pretty clear there are a large proportion of fans who are very unhappy already and you have to think they could quite quickly turn on the new manager if results are poor, regardless of what that new manager is saying or doing.

If cam's theory is right and it's been Lampard all along unless somebody else came forward to prove otherwise, then it feels unlikely that Broomfield or Eustace would be in the shortlist if you ask me.

100%

What is there possibly to gain from leaking team news or revealing a player is unhappy with XYZ. There is none, there is only downsides.

It's just an ego trip, feeling superior to everyone for having inside info and the attention that comes with it.

Why?

I think there was a genuine process, just King has obviously always had Lampard front and centre in his head (him confirming he was in the running was extremely odd).

I reckon Bloomfield would have jumped at any chance of the job, Wycombe is a dead end really, their long term ceiling is about where they are now. Eustace the cov connection too. Although I'm not sure I believe GIMOC on Eustace - he was doing press at Blackburn yesterday lol.

In both of Bloomfield and Eustace' case they'd have had to apply for the job. I could possibly see the former doing it, though he went on record to say no approach had been made for him by Coventry so it would be pretty underhand if he had applied.

In Eustace's case, given what happened to him at Birmingham, and the fact that he's doing reasonably well at Blackburn, why would he apply? He played here 20+ years ago, it's an entirely different club from what it was then.
