CBS Train station (2 Viewers)

We got the train down to Coventry yesterday & used the train to & from the CBS. Train to the CBS at 10:56 was mobbed & plenty were left on the platform, I hope they didn't have to wait until 11:56 & risk not getting to CBS in time, surely they put on more trains on matchdays The train afterwards was delayed by over 20 minutes & again plenty were left waiting on the platform. Again I hope they put more trains on matchdays. Our next home game on 23rd the last train back to Glasgow is at 17:36 but I can't risk the chance of not getting the only train back to Coventry or missing our train back to Glasgow because of a delay. It really is a shitshow!

I was staying in Kenilworth the other week and got the train to the CBS for the Betis game. The return train was cancelled, so I had to get the bus . What a fuck up, it need sorting.
im doing the same with her indoors for the QPR game, just hope it s not the same

It really is an embarrassment. An epitome of the state of infrastructure and projects (both civil and governmental) in the UK.

The stadium has been there for 20 years, the train station for around 10. It really isn't good enough.

Unfortunately bad planning in the first instance - a X-over and appropriate signalling either end of the CBS station could have meant a shuttle service between Cov - Cbs and Nun - Cbs with the right planning and train stock/drivers etc. But if you notice the normal service on that line quite often reverts to a Bus Service during school holidays as the Train staff also want their leave. ( there are not all that many passed out/signed off staff for the Route).

Yeah if you're not from Coventry, getting to the ground is a fucking nightmare. It has always been dreadful but it's really been amplified the last 2-3 years since our crowds have increased. No trains, shut roads, not enough car parks, no parking zones. They don't make it easy.

You could take the bus from the Holiday Inn to the train station interchange and the shuttle from there to the CBS, pretty regular services but slower than the train if it ain't cancelled. If nothing else it's a decent contingency plan if the rail service is a bust.

I seem to recall the problem with sourcing more trains was down to the fact that the line is not fully electrified. This means using diesel units which are not available in high enough numbers

That line only runs one diesel train with minimal capacity. Most of the time in the week it’s fairly empty.
Bet if it served London or its suburbs in some way though there would be money spent to make it fit for purpose .

Not going to improve any time soon. One of the main issues is they apparently can’t hire in extra rolling stock for event days as the line isn’t electrified.

The government quietly put the remaining g electrification programs on indefinite hold a few weeks back.

We used the train from Bedworth to the CBS and back it gets busy specially going back but cause only one train an hour was a long wait from the game ending to the train arriving at 15:04

May I suggest taking a later train chill out in the anecdote the casino or even shopping at the arena shopping centre lots of places to eat when Popeyes ect are open.

I got the 10:40 from Leamington on Saturday and it was arse to elbow by the time it got to Kenilworth, the CBS platform for the first train after the match is like the fucking last chopper out of Saigon, home and away fans crammed together even before you have sight of a train and incredibly ill-tempered.

I'm not sure how many are on and the scheduled times on matchdays this season but last season they changed the times of the trains back to Coventry to coincide with the end of the game eg for 3pm kick offs the time was changed to after 5pm & they also had more trains running, we used it after the WBA game and were at Coventry station for about 20 minutes when another one arrived full of WBA fans. Maybe nobody has told West Midland Trains that the season has started.

It did actually happen after a couple of last season's games that some of the 'ultras' tried beefing with each other from across the gate. Really don't understand why more carriages or at least more frequent services can't be put on.

The train is absolutely fine - good, even! - on non-matchdays. The issue is that they maintain the same service (hourly, two carriages) when thousands of people are trying to use it

Can't they put a train on with say 6 carriages but fans can only get on or off at CBS using doors in middle 2 carriages? Do this twice before and after a game in 30 minute intervals should be enough
