Perhaps get a light training session to get a feel of the pitch?

The aardvark used to have a small wasps flag hanging up in there. Think it still might be, may have to take a trip and remove it.

Coventry City’s pitch debacle, which has prevented the team from kicking a ball at home this season, finally has an end in sight.

The Coventry Building Society Arena, owned by Wasps rugby club and which hosted 65 rugby sevens matches at this summer’s Commonwealth Games, was condemned as unsafe for football by an EFL-appointed agronomist before the season’s opening weekend, leaving Coventry in the position of having to request postponements of their Championship meetings with Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic. Yet after a battle of words over who reneged on what promise, respite now appears on the horizon.

A source confirmed to The Times that work to repair the pitch finally began at 7am on Thursday. The process involves a high-tech method of stitching synthetic fibres into the ground to reinforce the most damaged areas and provide increased durability. Coventry had wanted Wasps to replace the pitch entirely but said the rugby club were unwilling to re-lay the surface even after the football club offered a financial contribution.

A source close to the project said that work will go on non-stop, through the night every night, until the surface is playable. It is hoped the process will eliminate problems in the pitch’s condition that arise from dual use. Neither club would say how the bill, said to be six figures, will be split.
Coventry have maintained that Wasps’ lack of cooperation has held up any prospect of a resolution. “It’s not in our hands,” City’s chief executive, David Boddy, said last week. “It’s in the hands of our landlords. They’ve said they are not going to put a new pitch down. It’s always been part of the [tenancy] agreement.

The pitch is looking good already, if both parties were proactive post CWG and had this work done, we would have played Rotherham on a carpet. Questions need to be asked of both Vaughan AND Boddy.

I know it's been said before but this:

The sooner these parasites are gone, the better.

Still don’t get how it’s a war of words. If it’s in the rental agreement what is there to discuss?

It wouldn't be as bad if just the football club were using it, Wasp shouldn't be allowed anywhere near it until November, perhaps they could groundshare at Worcester

We’ll never get the answer might be wrong but my betting is Wasps didn’t have the money to pay, caused this issue and went cap in hand to the West Midlands Authority who possibly stumped up a loan for this and possibly other issues, there’s a World Cup Rugby League tie due there in October and being a world wide event WMA coughed up.

Yeah, sorry, my terminology wasn't the best. When I said shi!t, I meant 'dodgy' - as in still looks a little unsafe in places.

Well it's not 'dangerous' anymore is it? That's all that matters really. Over time the new fibre stiching will strengthen the grass pitch enormously so it can cope better with both Rugby and football. Bumper crowd expected at the first 'home' game!

So basically...........................Fuck 'em!!

edit; I see now hahahaha, I meant Worcester and Wasps
