With one year left on his contract player power will play a part.
if we get promoted he will obviously want to stay and play next season. Unless they’re going to guarantee first team football, and Verbruggen is contracted to 2028(?), is it worth making him stay? Not much chance of his value increasing and a danger of him walking for nothing.

Depends on where they are with him. He's not starting ahead of Verbruggen so at best he's fighting it out to be second or third choice. He will be 25 at the start of next season so not a prospect. The highest level he's played at is Championship level.
Can see him asking for a move to try and establish himself as a permanent No 1 rather than being loaned out every year. I think it will be a case of us meeting Brighton's asking fee for a player who doesn't want too be there and may well have put in a transfer request.

The giving away of the penalty was a result of inexperience and over exuberance something that will be duly noted, pointed out and rectified in the coming weeks.

He’s the difference with us winning games this season. Wilson or Collins would have conceded 5 yesterday.
We were lucky to come away with a 3-1 win which on paper looks like we dominated but it wasn’t always the case.
Quite an end to end match that Rushworth did exceptionally well to keep it in our favour

I think Dovin needs both patience and game time to properly recover and I don’t think that being a backup keeper in the PL is going to give him either. I would send him to a Championship team for the year next season and see where he’s at, he’s played fewer than 30 games in this country.
Yeah definitely. Another loan or a short-term freebie I imagine.

You dont care because we scored 3 and against 10 men the game was over.
If he had given that pen away in a 0-0 game, we'd all be having a very different conversation.
Brighton have sent him here on loan because he is still learning his trade, and dispite pulling off some outstanding saves, he is still prone to that kind of error.
Go and look at the goal QPR scored at the CBS a few weeks ago, it was a very poor goal from a keepers point of view, but again because we had already scored 7, he got away with it.
Hes a very good keeper, far better than Wilson, but not the finished article yet.
Hopefully by next season he will be ready for the Premier league, and hopefully with us.

Rushworth had an excellent game overall. His save from Louza was absolutely top drawer as it would have beaten most keepers in the Championship, and his reading of one on one situations was particularly impressive. The penalty was poor on his part however, as there was no need for him to leave his goal to make the challenge, and was the type of error Wilson might make.
Luckily the errors he has made leading to goals have come in games we've won comfortably, and the more he has played the less likely he has looked to concede a soft goal. His presence also clearly gives the defenders in front of him far more confidence than having Wilson or Collins behind them, so has also been an important part in their improved performances too.
