If we’re still in the championship then yes? Possibly bell will have come on by then or maybe we bring in an experienced number 2? It’s a lot more sensible than signing a GK for 6 million when we’ve already got a very good one.
On your line of thinking why would an experienced GK want to come to us just to be a No.2?

If he does come to us on loan and proves he is an excellent GK it would be mental not to try and sign him. A GK can win/lose you more points than any other position. Look at the difference between Dovin and Collins.

An experienced number 2 as in someone who has experience of being a back up. Someone fairly reliable but importantly cheap because he won’t be playing ideally.

In that scenario we would be completely giving up on Dovin which to me is mental.

What team in world football has 2 equally good goalies? Has a team ever been successful rotating their goalies? My point is that I don’t see the point in spending a decent chunk of our limited budget on a GK when in my opinion we already have a very good one.
I said if we win promotion and he is excellent. If we get promoted we would have the funds.

Lots of clubs have 2 very good GK's. The higher up you go the more it happens. GK's do get injured. Last season we had both Dovin and Wilson injured at the same time. The injuries are not normally as bad as the one Dovin got though.

All of this means nothing yet though. He hasn't signed for us yet and we don't even know if he is as good as what we think. But if he is, that mentioned £6m would be a bargain and would shoot up in value.

can see the argument if we get promoted and he plays a big part. Without promotion though it’s a non starter.

And on the other hand if we got promoted and he has an excellent season his value could well go up unless we have an agreement at a certain price on promotion. Would we still want him if it would cost us £10m or more? If he had a great season there would be Prem sides interested.

All we have is ifs and buts.

ffs re-read that, from that logic they may as well put sky blue sam as number 2 !!!
Wake up man, it's you that needs to re-read it.
It was meant to be a sarcastic comment to the remark that a good keeper will play every game barring injury, and no good keeper will be happy being no.2

Of course a 12 month loan would be perfect. But how about in 12 months? Go back to Dovin and Wilson?
Not if City get promoted. 🤭

Movie trailer voice:

From the people who brought you "we don't want two quality right backs"

Comes "we can't have two quality keepers"

What a summer
‘We want a star striker, a new goalie, a new centre back…but we are not paying a few quid more for a ticket’

Who has said we dont want two quality right backs?
Quite a few on here. Just open your eyes. All over the place.
We can't have 2 rbs competing as they'll get fed up on the bench.
We can't have another CM in Pereira unless we offload Sheaf, Allen and Eccles as they'll be too many!
And the meltdown over not 1, not 2, but THREE LBs. My goodness!

No I have seen plenty of people saying a club our size WONT have two quality right backs and they fully expect us to sell MVE.

Not as bad as the thread you started where 62% have voted they would be happy for Wilson to start the season and not bring in another GK. Collins as No.2 😆

It's as though nearly 2/3 of us have forgotten what happened after Dovin got injured.

Glad to see Lampard and the coaching staff agreed with the 38% of us
