I’m just amazed how bad his distribution is for a modern keeper

If its "fine" that we're after, then what's wrong with Wilson? Like you say, he'll do until Dovin is back, but im certainly glad Brighton turned down our £5.5m offer now though. They saved us on that one!
Begs the question of the academy backroom staff at Brighton though. Didn't see any potential in Vik and let him go cheap, but have seen enough potential in a keeper that's, so far, full of errors, to turn down a hefty sum for a GK.

He's OK. I'm hoping he's one of those that will grow into the role as the season goes on and he can replicate the form shown at Swansea.

His decision making and general rationale can be a bit suspect at times. It took him 5-6 failed long pass attempts to Sakamoto yesterday to realise that it probably wasn't working which I thought was a bit bizarre.

It was the free kick at the death for me. Turned out to be the last kick of the game. Just hoofed it over everyone for a goal kick! Crazy! Like you say, lacks concentration and lacks a bit of knowledge. Seems a great reaction shot stopper. But suspect at everything else needed for a GK. A bit like Lee Burge.

The one thing i can say, though im not convinced he's any "better" than Wilson. In having him here and Wilson on the bench, means we're not 1 Wilson injury away from having to play Collins.
So although I dont think he's an improvement on Wilson, he's certainly an improvement on Collins. So for that reason, and that reason alone, he gets my vote!

You’ve already written him off after a few games?

Wilson absolutely isn’t fine and both Robins and Lampard have now brought in a new keeper instead of him being number one.

Sure but Rushworth is better than Wilson. Great kick on him, brave and decisive in one on ones but lacks a bit in positional sense.

He's currently ranked 4th worst on the xG stats.

He will improve I've no doubt, but it's definitely been a shaky start.

Collins didn’t even make the bench for Burton yet. I understand they are looking down the back of the sofa for the contract TCs

Loved the half volley he did halfway through the second half (think it was a very awkward backpass from Thomas/Kitching). Like a tee shot in the golf, caught it so sweetly.

Thought his kicking was good. Not sure he can take blame for the goal. The ball he spilled. It was a brave decision to come out in the first place. Our defence has improved this season. How many shots has Rushworth had to save in the first 5 games? Apart from the goals against this season, he's not had many saves to make.

Looked this morning. 5 saves so far from 12 shots. Not a pretty start but the sample size is still tiny.

He’ll be fine enough but I’m not sure he’ll be displacing Dovin (assuming recovery goes to plan).

I have no issue with his distribution personally

He just doesn't seem to make big savesim glad we didn't spend 5.5m from what I've seen so far

But I don't think he's a bad keeper either a d prefer him to Wilson and Collins so it was a good move to bring him in

Like others I expect him to improve. We know he is capable of big saves from the betis friendly

Rushworth can get distance on his kicks but he lacks accuracy in both direction and length at the moment. I don't know if that's lack of playing time or what. He hasn't been under much in the way of real pressure yet but his weaknesses are clear, I think. He wasn't to blame for the goal, the defence was caught too square again.

I dont think our defence has improved this season at all. Its the same 4 we had for the bulk of last season with an on loan GK. What's changed is were dominating games more and the ball, in the games we've played so far, we've had the lions share of possession and kept it in the oppositions half. The little things our defence have had to do has resulted in soft free kicks, silly yellow cards, and avoidable goals!

Last 4 games there has been 9 shots on target and we've conceded 7 goals. If Wilson or Collins were between the sticks then we'd be up in arms.

Great kick on him ? Really. His kicks often don’t get near one of our players.

Get to a match early and watch the Cov keepers warm up as a three kicking the ball at distance to each other. Wilson kicks the ball at distance and it lands 9 times out of ten right at the feet of the receiving keeper. In fairness Collins isn’t bad at this drill too. Watch Rushworth be part of the same drill. It’s really surprising how many times the keeper receiving the ball from Rushworth has to move to be in a position for the ball to land at their feet, and I’m not saying the odd step or too either.

Upgrade on Wilson ? I’m not so sure. Would I have been questioning what we had got if we had spent £5m on him ? Absolutely. Does a fit and on form Dovin get back in the team ahead of Rushworth on skill set and ability ? a definite yes.

but he’s not made a big mistake for any, maybe a couple he could of Got to, but the norwich goal should never of happened, Thomas and MVE should deal with that, and worst case would of been we win 1-0, this dropped points could be huge for us

Dovin had been linked with interest from Europe I think before his injury. Don't forget that his injury was a result of a bad mistake too when he was put under pressure. I'd like to see us sign a really top keeper next summer a little bit older maybe and build the next team around that (like all the best sides.)

Rushworth hasn't started brilliantly but Wilson, come on, that performance v Sunderland at home should have seen the clown released. He is not the answer.

Don't forget that Wilson had hardly played for months! The goal was on the MVE howler, not Wilson.

The first goal went straight through his hands, the second one was on MVE mostly but Wilson played his part, he had no need to come rushing out of his penalty area.

The Milan mistake cost us the playoffs there's really no point trying to blame Wilson. Wilson was there in our hour of need after Collins's confidence was blown. It probably cost Milan his big move this summer too poor lad. At least he seems to have put it behind him now.

Because it’s only been 4 games, we’ve seen Wilson and Collins plenty more than that. Rushworth still gets the benefit of the doubt for now.

Absolutely agree, got to give him longer than 4 or 5 league games. On Saturday Milan and Bobby should have dealt with that, no error from Rushworth. At Oxford the first wall had a huge hole in it which meant he could blast the ball straight through it and the 2nd wall Bobby turned his back on it.

I'm confident Rushworth will come good, just like Dovin did last season.

Some keepers have a presence, don't they? Think Peter Schmeichel back in the 90s. Did Collins have a presence? No. Does Wilson? Not really. I'd argue Rushworth has the most presence out of our current crop, including Dovin. He'll probably have the best career out of the lot too. But he's clearly rusty, and we're already 1/9 of the way through the season, so he needs to get the WD40 out quick-sharp.

He wasn't fouled, I'm not sure there was even contact but I've not seen it back since. In my mind, he got himself into a pickle under pressure and twisted his knee falling over.

I'd rather stick with him, nothing to suggest Wilson would have done any better. But they are extremely poor stats, whichever side you're on.

A decent GK should never be conceding that first at Derby. That was schoolboy stuff.

Rushworth is the best GK we have. Our defence looks better with him and the rest of the players have complete trust in him when the ball is played to him. Give him a break
