Bristol rovers game the other night summed up how far we’ve come so quickly. I remember going there few years ago being 3-0 down in 20 mins. It was a training exercise for us on Wednesday.

Yeah, said the same to my lad when we were there on Wednesday. We've come so far.

There were loads of teams I was always nervous of playing back then. They've stayed where they were and we've progressed beyond measure.

Same when we first moved into the Championship, it was teams like Watford and Norwich I dreaded playing. Think we're better than both those now, although they're both signing some good players. Hopefully, we can strengthen more in the next couple of weeks.

People keep saying that Robins dropped Dovin for Collins, and while technically correct he only did this for 3 games.

Leeds away, a calamity where having Dino Zoff in goal wouldn't have made a difference.

Blackburn away, clean sheet and 3 points.

Sheff W at home, where a failure to freshen up the midfield late in the game, not for the first time, cost us at least a point.

Whatever went wrong for Robins last season, his keeper selection wasn't really a part of it.

God just reflecting back to robins last season - he really did loose his way with the team didn’t he.

I remember our first game back in the Championship, Kalas scored the winner for Bristol City and I was thinking how are we supposed to compete with teams that have £7 million Czech internationals.

Didn't he also speak on CWR and make very clear why. Sure I remember him saying he hadn't been dropped for his performance, just that he wanted Dovin to be more vocal.

I think he thought he could turn it around but the trouble was it was too late. We couldn’t afford another slow start and we did. Ultimately cost him his job.

Seems to me he employed a load of staff who were lower grade yes men almost mates who just wernt the grade.
We had a good team as we made the playoffs in the end but robins and his team wernt getting a tune from them. For whatever reasons. Probably just not good enough

I assume you mean Wilson instead of Collins, though the point is the same.

We may not beat them very often but at least we finish above them lately. I'm happy with that.

You can't judge it on how often you take points off another team, we were pretty much guaranteed points from Sunderland each season, now they are a premier league team.

It was clearly apart of the muddled thinking. Not getting the results so swapping the keeper, and then playing Rudoni at LWB

He had a bad start to the season. He hadn't lost his way at all, that's pure hyperbole he was struggling without having AV along side him, but let's not forget he'd won 2 games back to back before the Derby defeat that cost him his job.

Would we of got to the playoffs if he'd of stayed, no, so Doug was justified if pulling the trigger, but MR didn't become a bad manager over night. And I'll back him to do a good job at Stoke.

Wilson played in those 3 games.

Dovin came back in after those games and played up to the Derby game, iirc. He then missed the Sunderland game and Collins was the only alternative as I think Wilson was injured at that stage.

Carr, and then Lampard, stuck with Collins until the Portsmouth game.

Where Robins really got it wrong with Dovin was criticising him for a freak goal at QPR. That seemed to affect his performances for a little while.

No you’re right, just checked and Wilson started in those games. It must have been later when Wilson picked up his injury.

Robins didn't have a good record with the keepers. Each and everyone one of them from Simon Moore on had a collapse in confidence - that's very unusual!

I’d argue Ben Wilson dramatically improved under Robins.

Moore was down to something in his private life and I think Collins had been dropped at Barnsley prior to coming

It was as much an issue with the overall defensive setup as it was Dovin, but he was clueless on the ball that night, we had no idea how to play out from the back. Thought the goal was unlucky more than anything, but I went home pretty frustrated with him.

He had a brilliant hot streak of making big saves (which is what stands out to us most as fans) but I do think his game in general needs a bit more work, and an ACL injury obviously does not help with that.

I know it's a massive relief we've got Rushworth in, top goalkeeper for this level.

Already wants to sign permanently for the City

He did. Something about he was vocal back in Sweden but he was hesitating here. Although he spoke fluent English I think he was still thinking in Swedish.
