Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth (19 Viewers)

It isn't just how much stronger we now look after bringing in Rushworth. There's so many question marks against all the other sides apart from Ipswich. I certainly can't see 6 sides better than us presently although there's over a month to go of the transfer window. But we also have that same time to improve.
I agree there’s no stand out sides at the moment but the standard across the championship has improved a lot. Everyone is having a real go, no easy games.

Definitely, it's a good standard league so to be considered one of the better teams in it is great for us considering what we've been through as a club.

Very good usually but this is a season where the Prem money doesn't look like having as much an effect.

Ipswich look very strong for the Championship.

The jury is out with Southampton. New manager that could do well or not so well. Just lost their best defender for free with many others wanting to leave.

Leicester are in trouble in several ways. They've mortgaged their remaining Prem money to keep going this season. Most of this will go on paying very high wages on players that now don't want to be there but nobody wants to take these players on because of the silly money they got offered. Vardy has gone so they have a lot of goals to replace. Then they have the points deduction to contend with.

Sheffield United are on reduced Prem money and on the last year of it. They spent heavily on loans last season. They didn't go up so have nothing to show for it. These players now need replacing. Hamer will now want out and they will be lucky to get their money back for him. If he leaves they will look an average side going for the playoffs.

Luton 😂

Out of the promoted sides Birmingham are an unknown. They could do well. They could be mid table.

So onto our rivals last season. Can anyone think of a squad better than ours?

FLW artificial (un)intelligence don't agree, they have Leicester winning the league. They also have Birmingham finishing 17th and Norwich bottom though.

Leicester are unlikely to get a significant points reduction and will still be a strong contender.

Same with Sheffield United

Southampton and Ipswich will be favourites to finish top 2

With the current players we have I can’t see us getting anything like the points needed for top 2

Sheff Weds probably about as easy a game as you'll get in the Championship! (as their squad stands at the moment anyway)

We are the same odds as Leicester to win the league, joint 5th favourites.

No one's seen the contract so how can you say with such certainty that there isn’t a buy option?
Because journos these days would say so. Until we know for sure there is one how is anyone commenting like there is? We made an offer to buy him they weren't interested

We need big seasons from EMC, Rudoni and Haji who all need to get 15-20 goal contributions. There aren’t much goals in the starting 11 after these players.

For me, if Sakamoto or a new signing can get 12-17 goal contributions from RW, we could force ourselves in the conversation. We can’t go into next season and compete in the Top 4 without adding a winger or two.

In terms of depth, I’m happy with the defence but we need to keep more clean sheets and concede less goals. If we can move on Binks/Lati and bring in a top end CB, we’ll be a great position. KKH last season was a better defender than MVE.

Well, all we do know with a reasonable amount of certainty is they turned down £5.5M, that doesn't mean they won't sell him.
Once bitten twice shy! They'll want to see how he gets on for sure, we've also got time to see if Dovin comes back. Dovin might well be ok in January but I'm not expecting much from him this season and, hopefully, the club will ease him back gently now we seem to have bought ourselves some time. ACL injuries can be nasty things!

So are you advocating paying more than that then even if we do have an option? Ive read from multiple journalists that its a straight loan so im inclined to beleive them.

It is just a straight loan. But something could happen in the future.

There's a good chance they value him at more than £5.5m Would you think we should consider signing him if he is a big part of us getting promoted this season? In his video after signing on loan he made a comment that could be taken as he would be happy if his future was with us. He has reached the age where he needs a permanent club to play for and not go out on loan each season or hope he can make the bench sometimes.

We should just enjoy watching him play for us and see what happens in a years time.

Man City are paying £27m to resign James Trafford. Rushworth is seen as a possible future England goalkeeper. Perhaps he’s worth more than £5.5m.

4th or 5th at best I'd say.

is this an accounting con by any chance?

Probably not. When Man City sold him to Burnley they inserted both a buy back and a bid matching option. Newcastle bid £27m for him and Man City actioned the bid match. Edison is getting towards the end of his time there so may be they’re thinking ahead.

If Trafford had gown to Newcastle or any other club aside the buy back clause Man City also had a clause that would give them 20% of the transfer fee . Hence the fee being lower .

A bit like that Philogene guy then, basically like a year's loan?

The deal when they sold him to Burnley was also if another club bid for Trafford, MC had to be informed and they could match the other clubs bid and talk to Trafford. City often insert a buy back clause and % of future fees

People keep saying that Robins dropped Dovin for Collins, and while technically correct he only did this for 3 games.

Leeds away, a calamity where having Dino Zoff in goal wouldn't have made a difference.

Blackburn away, clean sheet and 3 points.

Sheff W at home, where a failure to freshen up the midfield late in the game, not for the first time, cost us at least a point.

Whatever went wrong for Robins last season, his keeper selection wasn't really a part of it.
