‘Carl Rushworth to rival Jack Butland for starting XI after Rangers deal agreed’

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland faces a battle to keep his place if Russell Martin signs Brighton star Carl Rushworth.

Hmmm. Are we sure he's coming to us?

I doubt he'll be going to Rangers. It seems Russell Martin is now potentially leaning towards bringing Butland back into the fold.

Makes it a pretty unattractive loan destination for both the player and parent club when there's likely to be competition for the No.1 shirt.

Can I ask a really stupid question. I can see he was there yesterday. Have we got any confirmation he’s still there or could he of come back early?

Most premier league loans are done after their pre season tours. Suspect this one wont get sorted until they return at the earliest

Have there been many season long loan signings in the Championship as yet? I get the feeling such deals don't generally get done until closer to the season starting or even after, so if we do sign him it might not be for a while longer.

A bit early yet. They don't normally happen until the Prem sides name their squads for the season.

Sheffield United for instance rely on loans. Their 1st team still needs additions. I'm glad we're in our position and not theirs.

The way they are going about things feels like an exception rather than rule.

Not to say he was 100% but this was first rumoured through a random Facebook post stating that we had money and not to worry. Gonna hope he was right lol

Feel like it's more likely it was someone looking for a permanent number 1 then turned elsewhere when rejected. Think it's a good move for us regardless.

Glad to have GK sorted - when you look at how instrumental Trafford/Cooper were last season it was ridiculous that people wanted Wilson to play for 3-5 months

We heavily invested in a 22 year old GK last year who was showing signs of being a very good GK.
