Are we going to win the next 6 then covcity4life? We've won 2 all season. You were saying that we'd make the playoffs with bothroyd pmsl.

My opinion is that we will pull away from the relegation zone but you wont see out name in the top half of the table this season and probably not next season either unless we get better players than we currently have and keep McGoldrick.

Robins is doing okay in my book, he tells it as it is and although his substitutions have been obvious even to a blind man, at least he is making them and trying to affect the game.

The squad is nowhere near good enough to challenge to get out of this league and my worry is where is the money going to come from to fund another try in this league next season. I think the budget will be smaller next season and it will become harder rather than easier.

Not sure, even their manager said he didn't see that coming when we scored!

Fairplay to them for what they have done. However seeing what they have done, with that team and the way they played. Tells me anyone in this league can put a run together.

I can take your word for it Dongon ,but Stupot put some stats up on here yesterday and they've got 3 players on 7+ goals ,thats why i've never believed we could seriously go for it this year as any team that makes it out tends to have 3 players capable of 20 gls

Anyone can - providing they have players who can score goals and Tranmere have 3 who may score 15 plus this season. We have 1 and make that none in January.

no i didnt, i liked boothroyd though and given TIME, felt he could come good. never wanted him sacked

im not saying we will win next 6, im saying if we do playoffs are right back on so i dont agree with the OP that the season is over right now.

No there's realism based on our squads scoring record in League 1 and above.

Based on first 10 games 6th place had 18 points so thats 1.8 points per game for top six.

If we win seven in a row will give us 21 + 11 = 32 pts total and 6th place target would in theory be 31 pts.

We've just got to win 7 in a row to catch up, which when you consider we've only won 2 (only high flying Bournemouth at home) in 13 games is a ridiculous expectation.

Correct. We have practically zero chance yet for some that is the expectation.
With Robins in charge I am fairly confident we will avoid a relegation dogfight. If thorn had still been here it'd be over by Christmas yet again.

He was part of the total mess that our owners have created of their punt in football, and given that this is such a shit squad assembled by AT ,we were on midtable form .Now we have the svengali manager you craved he's going to struggle to achieve mid table mediocrity ,come on ,thats the very thing our beloved board said there were no longer willing to tolerate.

Not a punt, the vast majority wanted him, in fact, if AT hadn't of got the job, fans would've been annoyed and had we have got relegated with who ever got the job, people would've said it would've been different with AT IMO.

If the melting pot is the high octane battle for 13th, then yes, you are probably right

You pair really are a bundle of joy, miserable buggers
.
You won't destroy my optimism

16 wins, 13 draws, 4 defeats is more than possible with a squad this size. Especially as the season goes on and the other teams lose key players.

It's not the size of the squad it's the lack of quality that's the issue, oh and the fact we're highly likely to lose our top scorer in January...

Murphy Dunn
Clarke Christie
Reckford Hussey
Wood Cameron Willis Edge Malaga
Kilbane Bell Baker Henderson Thomas Jennings
Moussa Bailey Fleck.Barton
Ball Cody Goldie ROD Sheff.

Yes, see your point.

Loads of squads out there have better quality than ours.

Paulo Di Canio got it wrong, when he said he would take 7 of our squad.

Have you never heard of reverse physcology?

Seriously if given the chance how many of these players would most clubs in League One want.

More importantly in the last 4 years name 5 of the above that have achieved anything in the English Leagues above League 2.

Di canio just says what he thinks, that wasn't reverse psychology.

More importantly name 6 squads better than ours in league one

Di Canio simply plays mind games to gain a psychological advantage going into games-in our case, he attempted to inflate our players' egos and take the pressure off his own team. It didn't really work.

More to the point Duffy-Reckord, Henderson, Bailey, Ball, and McG are all on loan. Don seems to be treating them as permanent fixtures which is distorting the picture a bit.

Also why would Di Canio be so frightened of our shocking squad that he would need to try reverse psychology.

Then our shocking squad, nearly did them in their own backyard.

Has it not occurred to you that some of our players aren't as good as you think they are? All we know is that they were good enough to get relegated from the Championship, though that also has something to do with the idiot in charge of them, though that's a separate (and irrelevant) matter.

Has it not occurred to you that they might be just as good as we hoped they would be.
Shown by the fact that they won two, drew two against two of the better teams in this division and lost one again against one of the better teams.
During a period of instability they lost 5 on the bounce.

Do you think the last 5 results or the 5 defeats is a true reflection of our team.

It's more a true reflection of the competency of the manager than anything.
