Transfer Rumour Callum Wilson (30 Viewers)

He's left West Ham because he was on a pay as you play type deal and they've just signed two strikers, so his earnings are likely to drop significantly. We obviously can't afford him. He'll probably have other prem or foreign interest with much bigger offers than we could manage.

Would West ham let him go for free to sign for another prem club?

Does he want to go abroad at 34 (next month) maybe...

If neither of the above then we must have a chance??

Adding to that:

- we are looking to sign players who are ready to go ✅️
- history with the club and stated when he left he wanted to come back one day ✅️
- if he has been let go on a free he must be pretty sure where hes going - no stories in press and doug likes to be quiet about his business ✅️
- we had a proven champ striker training with us and let him leave to sign for someone else in the same division so we must be looking at a stiker and have other options available ✅️
- finally we have obs been talking ti spurs and Palace to try and secure the 2 wingers so why not West ham aswell???

We don't need to talk to West ham though. It would be his agent.

just wondering what the formation would be for Wilson to get the game time...who drops out? Is it Simms partnering him etc. I've not watched him enough to know if his legs/speed has gone or is it that he is just a bit fragile on the injury front.

You’d be bringing him off the bench most probably

with Simms showing he'll get goals, Wright still here and well capable of having a streak to finish the season and Asante our leading scorer in the position he'd be taking, is the risk of p*ssing off players already here actually worth it?

The only downside to this I can see is that this wouldn't be wrapped up anytime soon as he is likely going to wait see what other offers his agent comes up with so we risk missing out on other targets.

Make him an offer, give him a week, if he hasn't decided then sack him off

I would not be surprised at all if Doug rubber stamps a left field transfer like this. Or at least enquires.
If he refused to sign Bamford, as is believed, he won't be giving the OK for Wilson.

Personally, heart say sit would be great to see him back to get us back to the PL. Head says we can spend the money better on younger players with longer term potential.

Think it genuinely would be better than the Joe Cole signing, given that Cole was massively over the hill when he came here, name wise Cole was a bigger signing but Callum would be a big statement of intent and still has a couple of years left in him at a decent level. Let's see how ambitious Dougy is...

In term of financials - he can’t be struggling surely? I know you spend to your means, but surely he’s got money to set him up for life

Oh of course not, but when hes been on a heavily incentivised contract for the last 6 months, which has now been paid up, youd imagine hed be angling for a Saudi move or MLS

As i say, there's definitely talks happened and definitely a chance, it will all come down to his head or heart

I suppose the romantic in me thinks maybe as it's 6 months he might fancy trying to win a league medal at his home town club. I can't see how we work the financial side of things but I think if it was me I'd be tempted, I mean you can't hang Saudi money above the mantle piece... Might buy you a nicer one I guess but deferring a sunset move to MLS or Saudi for 6 months and potential glory might be an attractive option
