MR wanted O'hare to stay, C.O. was on £10k a week and DK offered £11k which was instantly rejected. The offer eventually got increased to £12k a week take it or leave it, but by that time O'hare's agent had received offers from other championship sides of double that offer so the club were informed that CO was leaving. (This all happened before Rudoni was signed)

Apparently AV was fuming that we hadn't made an effort to keep O'hare, and he and DK had a blazing row, DK said that we'd paid O'hare a fortune over the 12 months that he was injured and was reluctant to end up in a Jodie Jones situation.

That's what I've been told, if you choose not to believe it that's fine, if you'd sooner I not post what I've heard then just say so and I'll keep it to myself, but I don't need some random total bell end like @shepard01 giving me grief over info I've offered to genuine fans.

Incidentally, DK got Oly Dovins transfer fee halved, in order to meet his wage demands which apparently put him up there with the highest paid players at the club.

is this one of the reasons why AV left/fired/asked to leave or whatever? or do you have any info on that?

I don't rate Palmer particularl myself... do rate Allen(!) But it's fair to say they've both been casually dismissed out of hand, so why shouldn't O'Hare casually dismiss us out of hand? Loyalty works two ways.

Allen did really well in our playoff season and was my motm a few times in crucial games (don’t ask me to name them). Last season was obviously a bit of a ‘write off’ for him and I think it’s going to be tough for him to get back in the side.

O'Hare has made the right choice... if Sheff Utd are throwing out 4 year contracts on silly money for a player who has been injured for more than half of the last 2 years and scores about one goal every 9 games he does play (including league 1!) them more fool them!

All he adds is work rate, and since his knee, that's not been the same

We'd already replaced him 2/3 times over and he wasn't even our player anymore so the gloating from Sheff Utd extra amusing!

Probably wont be fit for the CBS return anyway

Yes. We expect loyalty but think it's fine to write this sort of stuff about players.

I often wondered how much of a distraction COH was to other players, he was a big character and loves to be Center of attention.

yet others like sheaf just get on with it. Must have been distracting

If it was anything close to that (I know nothing about the MLS) that would presumably be his signing on fee and wages combined as well as possibly some other commercial / sponsorship things.

I'm not sure there's any precedent for Championship level players moving for that sort of money though... so definitely is really hard to believe or understand.

That’s bang on what I feel about Palmer. There’s a player in there but unfortunately it’s stuck in the body of one that tries too hard whilst attacking and inevitably gives the ball away at crucial moments.

It's only a very small part of the reason.

We are moving to a more modern "statistic driven" training approach. (Whatever that means???) And the coaching systems are having a complete overhaul.

MR wasn't happy about a number of things including taking far too long for the players to get match fit at the start of last season, and players taking months to fit into a system. And not getting the balance of training and recovery right that cost us so many points at the end of the season.

That's very basically the crux of it.
We are having a new training type of set up which is not what AV is used to, so fresh blood is being brought in.

Personal opinion on a couple of things, Callum had probably reached his development ceiling, post injury it was all tippy tappy stuff around the wings apart from the Leicester game. Lost a yard of pace and won more fouls rather than keep playing as he did before. Rudoni will prove a better option, same mould but more robust with better development potential and range of passing. The other thing is I dont think Gus will stay there so he may think he will be the main man at Sheffield unlike here. Chris Wilder wont give him the same arm around the shoulder as he got here, hes a tough love merchant so he will need to toughen up. Good luck to him though hes been good for us and I am sure the money will replace any trepidations that he has. The second comment is how shit is that kit he was wearing?

i assume this coinsides with Dr Roberts coaching appraoch? is it AV is "old Skool" and this new way isnt something that he wants to be a part of, and/or doesnt have the skills to deliver?

either way, big change, and i hope it develops well this season.

I think there's probably an element of freshening things up as well.

AV was quite an abrasive character, and I think he would of prevented any younger coaches from implementing their ideas.
(That's my personal thoughts)

I haven't heard anything about the accusations of bullying, so that's probably BS.

All I know is that MR wanted to keep O'hare, or replace him with similar quality.

DK then sanctioned the purchase of Rudoni who had been discussed for quite a while.

Rudoni is younger than O'hare and is thought capable of playing in the premier league, and could also have a higher resale value, and hasn't had an ACL injury which effects future transfer value.
I think this is the key to it all really. If you take sentiment out of it, O'Hare is 26 with an ACL tear on his record. Even if he was outstanding for us we'd be unlikely to get a big fee for him at 28+ and we'll always have the risk of the injury reoccuring. Rudoni is younger, no injury risk and someone we can look to turn a profit on in 2/3 years.

Rudoni is three years younger played around the same amount of games as ohare and has a fairly similar scoring record but has been doing it in awful team.

It seems from various posters who seem to know what they are talking about, that we could have kept O'Hare if we really wanted to. Him going to another championship club possibly supports that. What is his current transfer value? 2M?
The risk of another long term injury Vs future resale value isn't good.
Edit. pretty much what skybluecam is saying above.

I watched the City Unseen of our game at Huddersfield and there is one clip in there where turns and drives with the ball to play somebody in, his turn and dribbling pace was impressive as it was Haji Wright he got away from

It will allow us to play players like Torp in their correct position going forward. Torp is clearly an 8 but playing with a 10 means he isnt utilised properly.

It is what it is. People need to get a grip. Of course they would use the sunglasses. It's social media and our club does the same when we sign players.

Sometimes people want to move on. Same with anyone in any line of work.

He was worshipped here and unless he gets promotion with Sheff Utd, he'll never get the love he did here. It's the same with Hamer. He's liked there but he's not some sort of worshipped God like he was here. Let's be honest, he may not care.

No surprise I suppose that COH stabbed us in the back since he’s a Blade after all now. Hope Hamer goes to the Prem asap - getting that sell clause plus playing against a weaker Sheff Utd team will make me feel better.

You’re right they weren’t PL but were the best team in the championship by a country mile that season. SU are not in the same position by any stretch ATM.
I kinda understand some of the feeling about the move, but we also need to understand he is not a Coventry supporter, he’s gone for one reason, £, just wish he would say that rather than I’ve had offers from different clubs, in different leagues etc. but I’ve chosen SU. Blah blah blah. But then he will want to build a rapport with the fans there, he’s that kind guy, wants to be loved.

They were. At the start of the season though they had an untried manager, had lost their experience, were changing their style of play... not (m)any tipped them to be as dominant as they ended up.

I guess some of the vitriol comes from a place of broken loyalty, I suppose. Perceived, anyway.

The club stood by him during a particularly difficult recovery from an ACL, he came back, played his tits off for 10 games, and fizzled out - personally, I believe this departure could be a blessing in disguise, as not only has it freed up wages, but it allows the likes of Torp and Rudoni to shine.

Palmer, meh, maybe. I just feel he’s one of those that will plateau for another couple of years, development wise, and tail off. Back up, at most.

Torp and Rudoni are significant upgrades on COH and Palmer, IF the former finds his feet at this level. He could be a pivotal player for us, as I’m sure Rudoni will be.
