He is worth nowhere near £15 million….
Its immaterial whether Gyokeres is actually worth £15m or not. The actual selling price will be dependent on the balance of power between the buyer and the seller. If we have to sell to stay financially afloat then we are in a weak position to command a big fee. Likewise if there is only one interested club. The attitude of the player/ agent also comes into it because if they are agitating for a move then we might have to accept less also. On the other hand if we as the selling club feel able to hold out the selling price goes up. In this instance Gyokeres still has 2 years left on his contract so there isn't an immediate need to cash in, which should help boost his price. If we make it clear and believable that we are not interested in selling (which I hope we do), then it forces potential buyers to dig deeper than they might want to.
This comes down to the player I think. He’s under contract and chance of him going for free is nil so it’s down to whether vik is happy or trying to engineer a move or whether Sisu would want £4-5 million.
IF he is happy and we are not desperate financially (assume we are not) then we call the shots and not settle for anything less than what a 17 goal championship striker is worth. Look at recent past transfers and it’s easily £15k +
I'd happily extend his contract now and make him our best paid player.
