Norwich were apparently originally quoted £15million and that's why they arn't pursuing the transfer, (according to their forum)If we had the chance to get Doyle for £8m I’d take their hand off. Has ability and a bit of nastiness about him and can play LB. The sort of quality we need to add to progress.
I hadn't heard that before. One of the most stupid things we've done in the market for years. He was so pumped v Us back in September because he was pissed off at being passed over for Binks when he wanted to come back
Cant blame him. And he had us on strings
It depends.I hadn't heard that before. One of the most stupid things we've done in the market for years.
I'm assuming he's referring to last summer which would mean the choice would be Doyle on a loan or Binks for a fee.It depends.
If they were looking at someone to turn from loan to perm, then they may just have thought Doyle out of our means, which would be fair enough.
The strange thing is buying Binks when he didn't really do much during the loan.
Ah, ok, but point still stands; that they didn't want to take a player on loan that there was no chance of getting permanently.I'm assuming he's referring to last summer which would mean the choice would be Doyle on a loan or Binks for a fee.
After having Binks for a year and seeing we never keep a clean sheet when he plays I'd have never paid money for him.
Tbf he played in the 1-0 home victory vs QPR back in February And had his best game that night.I'm assuming he's referring to last summer which would mean the choice would be Doyle on a loan or Binks for a fee.

Was he cheap? Never saw anything definitive on the fee but I thought it was about £3m which while not massive isn't exactly cheap either. He was a cheap young pickup that provides cover and might develop. Far from the oddest signing we’ve made

Fair, makes more sense then.£1.7m (I thought 1.3 my mistake), less than Bassette.

we need a bit of pace at the back with that high line, des walker esque
I hadn't heard that before. One of the most stupid things we've done in the market for years.
Just thinking of the Sunderland 1st goal in the first game, our full backs push up, need a quick centre half to cover ? Thomas and kitching have got caught out a few timesThink we can get away with the current CBs if we've still got Milan and sign someone equally as quick on the left.
I think when you consider the context, Kitching arriving for big money and playing most of last season, the need to a left sided backup, a 22 year old who has fit in for under £2m is a reasonable shout IMO. He was never signed to be first choice. Doyle on loan would have pissed off your £4m CB for no long term benefit.
Don't get me wrong, pace in the back 2 would be great.Just thinking of the Sunderland 1st goal in the first game, our full backs push up, need a quick centre half to cover ? Thomas and kitching have got caught out a few times
I think the same with Binks. Would shock me if Lati made way and we focused on a right sided CBI'd take Doyle all day long assuming the price is acceptable.
I also think it's a little premature writing Binks off.

He was part of that winning run probably around Feb wasn't he, clean sheets as well, proper football?Tbf he played in the 1-0 home victory vs QPR back in February And had his best game that night.
I thought he'd kick on from that and become the player we thought we were getting, but alas it wasn't to be, and Kitching's form has kept him out since.
Doesn't that depend if he's asking to move, which has been hinted at on here??I think the same with Binks. Would shock me if Lati made way and we focused on a right sided CB
It was hinted that Lati wanted to be a starter elsewhere. Haven’t heard anything about Binks on hereDoesn't that depend if he's asking to move, which has been hinted at on here??
Ah sorry must have misunderstood, you know what we need someone with a bit of Muscle in them, a bit more solid IMO.It was hinted that Lati wanted to be a starter elsewhere. Haven’t heard anything about Binks on here
Would still rate Jimmy Dunne on a free. I like Darling as well due to his passing since we like playing it out so much.Ah sorry must have misunderstood, you know what we need someone with a bit of Muscle in them, a bit more solid IMO.
What about that guy at Millwall?Would still rate Jimmy Dunne on a free. I like Darling as well due to his passing since we like playing it out so much.
Very good player if we are on about the same one but would be a hefty cost I’d imagineWhat about that guy at Millwall?
I agree that we need pace in the back 2 but for me that immediately rules out Doyle. He has the turning circle of an oil tanker.Don't get me wrong, pace in the back 2 would be great.
But Milan does a lot of clearing up, if we had a left back who could do the same we'd be a lot more secure.
You want one of our backup centre halves to be Bidwell?I can't see the point in another left sided central defender for the sort of money Doyle is being touted for.
Frankly if Bidwell stays he could easily play backup left sided central defender, allowing Binks to leave for a fee.
It is the right hand side of the team that needs strengthening mostly.
