No need to be obtuse. The point is the construction cost is not the same as the amount CCFC would need to finance.

So who wants to pay for it then ?

So who do you think is going to contribute to the construction costs, considering what else can be squeezed in around the Butts?
Funding for the project would be provided by forming a joint property company with the football club and ongoing revenue would be secured by the two organisations forming an events company to handle the day to day running of the stadium.

"We have had discussions with the football club and we have had discussions with architects who have drawn up some outline plans."
A student accommodation development would be used to provide a big chunk of the required finance, but there could also be the possibility for a retail outlet.

Mr Sharp also said contributions would be provided by the rugby club, the football club and any other partners which could come on board along the way.
Asked how a deal a partnership at The Butts, under the potential banner ‘Coventry Sporting Club, would work in the interests of CCFC, Mr Sharp said: “There would be things such as naming rights for the stadium.

“The property company would be a joint venture with the football club and would be owned by the rugby club and football club.

“The joint events company would deal with matchday revenue and non-matchday stuff. It would be responsible for franchises, food and beverages and a share of that income would go to the football club’s finances.”

What do you think is a realistic figure that CCFC will need to contribute and the chances that our owners will do that.
No idea, hence why I think it should be looked into further not written off as impossible on day one. If it works out at a net benefit to the club over x number of years against staying at the Ricoh why would our owners prefer to stay?

The Gentleman said:
Lastly, you mentioned the word 'financials' in an earlier post and you haven't seen them yet. Running and walking springs to mind. We haven't had a definite word that it's even going to happen let alone seen planning permission, plans and all the other things a project like this needs.
Again, nobody has seen them hence throwing the idea out as impossible is ridiculous.

So you hold responsible someone who heads up a council, who's decision making on CCFC
matters were cross party led. Instead of CCFC owners who were already sitting tenants in
the desired stadium, but instead of trying to engage in meaningful talks and negotiations ,
did everything in there power to isolate themselves and cause bad feeling and mistrust
with every other group involved. Ok

I thought that at the time of negotiations to sell to Wasps, CCFC were no longer tenants at the Ricoh, and were ground sharing at Sixfields.

I hold many people from every involved organisation responsible Bry, but...
No matter what had gone on, no matter how much bad blood, there was a way forward right up to the point that she agreed to sell to Wasps. The point of no return was crossed by her and her cronies.

There isn't a fence around Warwickshire in which people aren't allowed to support other midlands teams, in fact some clubs are closer than ccfc from parts of Warwickshire.

True, but I've said before when it got to that point relations were at such a low point even hateful
if anyone had turned up with a remotely acceptable offer, they would have took it.

The population of the area covering those clubs is probably around 7 or 8 million
The same area around Swansea is probably around 1 or 1.5 million

I merely pointed out that when CCC shafted the club by selling the Ricoh, we were no longer tenants. I absolutely agree with you that moving to Sixfields was not just shooting ourselves in the foot, it was like doing that with a 10 second burst from a Uzi. A really crass decision.

So where the hell are they? Why should the club hinder any chance of moving away from our insect overlords due to the fact that these extra 5k 'may' turn up two times a season? I would rather have a steady 25k fan base than hoping that fans may rock up or continue to use excuses not to support the club

This is why the club, the local media, the trust and the fans should all be putting out the shout of get your arses to the Ricoh. It is all well and good saying "Well if we win a few games or draw Chelsea in the cup they will come".

Agree with the above all for that. In addition success will naturally do that as well.

Yes, but whilst it may be that big (I would guess more 4-5m), we're in the epicenter meaning they are all competition for cov and Warwickshire fans - places like north Warwickshire coleshill, Kingsbury, water Orton are as near to Birmingham as they are Coventry, most people I know from are villa fans, for example.

I would say Coventry's real catchment area is Coventry, nuneaton (shared with Leicester and villa), Bedworth, leamington, Warwick and rugby (shared with Leicester).

So are SISU going to bring us success or not? As it seems we can't move to the Butts because we will need 30k in the Premier League, most of the people who are saying things like that don't strike me as the people who trust SISU to do that.

Wouldn't think any of us would trust Sisu to do that.

By the same token I reckon the same can be said of a 15k stadium. In fact, of Sisu ever building anything at all, ever.

I am optimistic about success next season. I felt we were not far off this season. TM and MV seem to really know their stuff IMO.
I also feel that if we have the same season as last season but keep it going in the second half we will be getting 16-18k attendances, by the last third of the season

That season with Chelsea in the cup , IIRC I did 24 games home and away inc Blackburn +replay.
But then couldn't get a ticket for Chelsea.
Incidentally the Blackburn replay was the best atmosphere I have ever experienced at the Ricoh.

Over time we have lost them you go through 15 years of decline and absolutely no success that is what will happen.
If we get to the premiership new fans will appear other fans will return.
There will be no guarantees of your existing loyal fans getting a ticket with a 25k stadium trust me.
If we are successful in the champion it will be just about enough for that.

They would have to do a system for selling tickets with a smaller capacity. There would be season tickets, memberships and then somebody like yourself who does go a lot should then get preference over Dave from Bedworth who just wants to go and see Eden Hazard.

With Ticketmaster now, there is a lot more power to do things properly I think.

Yes there would, because they would have a season ticket, membership or match package. Those and order history (ie been to more than x games) would help give preference.

Now there isn't cash turnstyles, everything should be tracked.

That's the danger
Who gets a ticket in the Prem want be decided on loyalty.
You may get first option if you are an existing season ticket holder then let's hope you can afford it.
However it you can make most of the matches but miss some due to personal circumstances so can't get a season ticket. You could get screwed over by a new fan, a returning fan or the corporate section that will re kindle it's interest.
