Will be 6 weeks since he went off injured on 7/1, when do we think he’ll be in the squad?

I think he'll be back when he's fit again after his injury to be honest mate

I personally don’t expect him to come back in the same kind of form he was in at the time of the injury, but we’re in need of more attacking options in the squad.

Think it will be mid to late Jan before we see him back.
He's been a big miss to be honest, weve lacked a cutting edge lately and become a little "one dimensional" he definitely offers us something different when he plays.
For me, he has been our most improved player, and the reason we didn't miss Rudoni when he was injured.

When hes back, along with a new winger, we will be even more formidable for the run in!

The point is that we don’t need a player as good as early-season BTA to win the league from this position. At this stage, it doesn’t even matter if he doesn’t come back at peak form.

We have missed BTA more than we did Rudoni, as has been demonstrated by our loss of dynamism in recent weeks, even after Rudoni's return. Hope he is back for Lestah!

I understand your point I truly do but I think sometimes you need to look at the table and realise we haven't missed anyone this season as of yet

BTA is the player of the season for me, by a country mile.

We've got by without him with luck and some very narrow wins, relying on our keeper, and the opposition missing sitters. (Swansea being just 1 example)

Since he's been out the goals have dried up, and we no longer blow teams away like we did against QPR, Brum, and Derby etc.
Where wins were effortless before, they are now hard fought for by everyone.

Yep - was going to say exactly this!! "Getting by without him" and "not missing him" are two very different things in my book!

For the Swansea and Bristol games I give you Southampton and PNE where we really should’ve won. The points return has been fair, not lucky.

Three more starts and Rudi will have played the same minutes roughly and so far has 20% as many goals.

If we are comparing players that don’t play in the same position then Rushworths goals per min stats are worse than both Rudi and BTA.

They will have both been playing the AM/supporting striker role for much of the season. They may have been playing it in different ways, but it is still the same position.

Have you looked at the underlying data for those games?

Of all the matches you mentioned, only Derby was a particularly strong game of chance creation.

The QPR game we created the least, all of our low
% shots went in and was one of those crazy games.

It also goes without saying that PNE, Bristol, Southampton and Ipswich are all better quality opposition.

Yea I agree re our over performance in relation to xG but we do miss BTA, if not for his goal threat (which I don't think he would have sustained, injury or no injury) but for his work on and off the ball. He also won an astonishing number of headers, he worked nicely as a foil for Wright as he did all the dirty work.

Interesting a high xg is seen as positive when not reaching thus means strikers are poor

what is definitely not good is conceding lots of xg cus at some point teams will score and its not something we can control

My honest opinion is that Rudoni is struggling to find his way back in a 4-2-3-1.

There were multiple comments that 4-4-2 was losing us control in the midfield, Eccles comes in and plays well only to get injured and Rudoni’s returned arguably gets rushed.

It hasn’t helped that Haji has not took his chances and think Lampard not starting Simms and Wright was potentially a mistake. Simms was POTM and gets dropped for a striker and AM who haven’t scored since October and August respectively.

Rudoni was by far and away our best player last season but this term, he’s looked like a player being shoehorned in and hope that changes soon.

BTA also plays quite a bit on the wing and has started as a Striker.

Also when he plays 10 he plays much further forward that JR.

Chance conversion rate hasn't been anywhere near as good of late.
The quality of opposition has nothing to do with it.

Not going by data, but just by watching the games.
The only difference is that at the beginning of the season, a high percentage of the chances we created were scored.
Now we are just missing too many chances.

If you take previous seasons into account, they are also worse than Ben Wilson's.

I agree that he is our most valuable player but I wouldn't say by a country mile. The players you have mentioned are all key to our success, along with several others. I expect Rudi to be performing at his best soon.
