Gutted for BTA, he's been one of out most improved players and his goal contribution has been absolutely fantastic. We will really miss him over the Christmas and new year period.
The only saving grace is that Rudoni is back in the fold, but with out BTA we are going to ask a lot of this small squad before the transfer window opens.

We just look a bit light in depth. 2 or 3 long term or season ending juries to a couple of our first team could derail our season (e.g. if Kitching and Thomas are out at the same time, or Grimes and Torp, or Wright, Simms and Asante). I think we need to try and bring 3 or 4 in, in Jan to give use the assurance of getting over the line

I can only think the coaches and Doug saw Simms as a better back up to Wright than Bamford for him not to sign.

If they thought he was 2nd best and Simms 3rd they surely would have signed him so fair play to Simms For battling away and that might even end up being the difference this season for auto promotion (1st or 2nd) so fair play to Doug and Frank for that happening

wright is the backup for simms.
wright is a left winger, he's not a striker.

Doug has said that's why he let Bassette go. He wanted to push on with Simms.

Hopefully he'll be ready to go in the new year, otherwise we need to sign another forward in January.

Our bench looked very weak today with Kesler-Hayden the only one who could come on and make a difference. We must sign a winger in January and hopefully another midfielder who can play the 10.

I’m biased from a CCFC perspective, but I was relieved when we didn’t take Bamford on. Simms is a great player, who unfortunately hid it well at times last season.
I obviously understand why Lampard has come in and said Haji is a CF, not wide left, despite so often giving a 5/10 performances, he is our best player (ish!). He is capable of producing something out of nothing, far more than the rest of the squad.

However, taking on a new striker (Bamford) would have meant effectively writing off a £3.5 - £8m striker, who hasn’t been that bad for us. I admit I’m a bit biased in his favour coz I want to believe he is a success here. However, he has already proven he can do what he was brought in to do, from previous years. I think last year was a 5 out of 10 for him. This year and previous years are/were higher.
I still wonder at times whether it’s best with Simms up top and Haji instead of EMC. However I understand Lampard wanting to give consistent messaging to Wright.
I’m not saying that we should be doing anything different, but just that Simms should be at least second choice striker.

We are light with wingers but overall the squad is good and we have had enough to depth to find ourselves 10 clear at end of November despite injuries. So it's not a terrible situation

Disagree with this. I think this will be a tricky month for us with fixtures and squad depth. Most likely time to have our ‘wobble’.

Yeah a wobble is possible but if we go into January top of table it's clear squad depth wasn't a major issue for us in first half of season like some were panicking about when summer window closed

We may have to utilise wingbacks alot more in December though so yeah a test to come agree with that
