No doubt there are people like that.
But as I've said before, I know loads of people who went during the L1 and L2 days but they'd only go to a few games a season.

Now they're ST holders. So not new fans, just more committed

Lads I went school with used to come the odd game with us for years even in the early championship days, now they’re season ticket holders and take their kids.

Yeah same, most people I know were in the same boat and have just started showing interest in the last few years again.
Don't really blame them tbf. The match day experiences back then weren't the most enticing, sitting in a half empty stadium and it didn't look like the club were going anywhere until we started climbing again.

Yea but the smugness boost you get now when the oppo fans ask where you were when we were shit is all worth it.

Just blame it on the ST fund and all your kind donations, its added hundreds to the total these last few years
Keep your donations coming for when Doug adds in more seating somewhere

How many STs are you able to buy a season with the fund?

I hate to break it to people but I reckon about 1/4 of the ground these days probably supported someone else 5 years ago. We didn’t just find 15 people under a rock. I personally know a handful of people who were ‘United’ or ‘Liverpool’ fans who now go most weeks.

It’s just the reality of the situation. We’ve always had a relatively fickle fanbase and there were barely any Cov fans in secondary school when I went in the late 2000s.

One of my mates growing up was a big Man Utd fan (that never went to games). Just started inviting him to away games in L1 and L2 and he got the bug, now a big Cov fan and was able to convert a couple of others as well. It’s not inherently a bad thing.

I recall Fisher claiming at one point a 6 digit figure of active customers on our database which sounded insane at face value but matched what I'd heard previously from other sources.

Lets be honest, it was not a particularly enjoyable experience sliding down the leagues watching some of the worst players to ever pull on the shirt. Not really a mystery why people drifted away and then returned when things were on the up.

Thats has changed every year, the early years raised over £12k and JSB tickets were £25 and adulty tickets £250 so we could buy up to 100 in those years, reality is, if we get to c£5k this year then clearly lower at PL pricing levels.
The club has also helped by gifting some each year and that number has varied from zero to 30 so again, that impacts in a positive or not so positive position to help.

Exact same. Lad I have a ST with now was a Chelsea fan (in the loosest sense) but then started coming away with us on away days in L1 and 2. My parents were cov so I didn't have a choice but I think theres a lot a kids who didn't come from a football supporting family so their idea of football is sky tv or Fifa. Until they get a real taste of what going to the football is.

I grew up in Rugby and went to secondary school from 1974-79 & there was me and another Coventry fan in my class & the majority was Leeds & Liverpool, we even had a couple of Leicester fans. Where we lived, near to where Sainsbury's is, there were more Leicester fans than Coventry fans & there were over 300 Man Utd fans in the Rugby Reds. When I go back to Rugby now I see mostly Coventry shirts

Just an extension of Bay City Roller fandom - They were welcome to it.
Not much sign of obesity in those days either.
