Isn't that the stuff Trump bought off India believing it would cure Covid-19?

Anyone listened to the Bristol city captain recording going around on WhatsApp just now regarding the EFL meeting?

High level summary is...

- Season unlikely to finish
- Jan 21 start for next season
- Top three clubs promoted
- no relegation
- More teams relegated after next season to balance leagues out
- Vote on if players will play after June Without pay for out of contract players.

To be confirmed at another meeting but this is the proposal.

City would be promoted.

and relegated the following year probably

This is a very brilliant enemy, you know. It's a brilliant enemy. They develop drugs like the antibiotics, you see - Antibiotics used to solve every problem. Now one of the biggest problems the world has is... the germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can't keep up with it! People go to a hospital and they catch... they go for a heart operation – that's no problem – but they end up dying from... from... problems! You know the problems I'm talking about.
There's a whole genius to it! We're fighting... not only is it hidden but it's very smart, OK? Almost as smart as me! It's invisible! And it's hidden! But it's very smart.

Why does the EFL assume we can restart in Jan? Best to wait and see what the scientists can come up with first.

That's right
Even if this season isn't completed the country is likely to be in a position to allow next season to start without fans if current trends of rate of infection and testing continue to improve
Especially if a vaccine or effective treatment are found
The big factor is when fans can come back. The audio talks about January 2021
How many clubs can survive without ticket income until then is the fundamental question

Gov't has just given £16M to Rugby League .
I'd expect something to come the way of the EFL to distribute

More substantial than that too.

Furloughed? I mentioned that the clubs could take that route rather than finish the season.

Furlough won’t continue as it is unaffordable. That is why the government are sorting out how to get us back. They may support specific industries eg pubs but certainly not a free for all.

Right but that's not going to be possible till January is it? And even then we go into a league where we've had no income but there's sides with parachute payments and 6 relegation slots

I'd pay £20 a game to watch CCFC on TV until we were allowed back. Fans would save on away day costs, so wouldn't be any worse off. Probably couldnt watch games in the pub (assuming restrictions) so may get more paying customers? I appreciate that a number of people will have suffered financially due to the Cov-id situation (I am fortunate to have swerved most of the financial effect at the moment) and may not be able to afford these costs.

Me too, If done correctly and securely (avoiding illegal streams) we could in our current position with no ground, potentially make more money from home games. Unfortunately player trading has become our main source of income in recent years, Not gate receipts.

Been saying this for weeks. If 10k fans watch at home for (say) £15 a match clubs like ours wouldn’t necessarily lose as much as some are suggesting. Big question is how many fans would pay and how much? Illegal streams would go through the roof also.

so families go together - but would only pay 1 ticket to watch on the TV
I think you would maybe get 3000 subscribers paying to watch us on TV each week, subject to how we are performing and the cost

For us , the big game changer is promotion, as we could maintain our total income, albeit entering the championship with a league 1 team

But how many families have multiple ticket holders living under the same roof? For me there is me and my son, but his ticket is as good as free anyway (JSB). Are there lots of families that all pay full price and all live together? I have no idea. I guess it also depends what the social distancing restrictions are at the time.

Anyone seen the ‘sporting merit’/PPG* final league one table (saw Prem and they had Liverpool ending up on 109 points !) ? Thought someone would’ve knocked up a league one version by now ? apologies if I’ve missed it

*from what I saw it’s not quite as straight forward as a standard PPG calculation

Resigned to the season being finished now and hoping the right thing is done and we’re promoted.

Looking ahead I still question whether next season starts in September. I know behind closed doors is muted but for championship and leagues 1 & 2 I’m not sure the tv audience would be there for the clubs to fund wages e.t.c

With the World Cup in 2022 being played at the end of the year could the next couple of seasons run Jan to September? Could the government furlough scheme be extended for specific sectors like hospitality and leisure as they are far more likely to increase infections?

Just some of my musings

MR is tied down on a decent contract. A year of Championship experience in the squad and a few quality additions, the possibility of being back in the city with decent crowds. I'd back us to get promotion season after next if we were relegated. Wasps are going to go pop at some point too, no way they manage to get decent refinancing on that bond scheme so worst case scenario is May 2022.

Is MR tied down to a decent contract? To my knowledge it was a rolling contract.
