We actually have quite a lot going for us on this one
The club's strong Wolves connection, the fact that Bright was here last season and usually started games in his favoured position
Robins is a progressive manager who trusts young players and lets them learn by throwing them into men's football
The lad has mates in the team and he's still in touch with them
And we're on the up, finished the season strongly, just outside the play offs
I don't have any inside info but won't be surprised if he does come back on loan

I'd agree that the stadium we play in isn't exactly a make or break decision for a player coming in if they're getting paid either way, but if it points to a load of uncertainty and potential future turmoil that could put people off.

Didn't affect the players when we went to Sixfields, if anything the football was excellent, on a par if not better than last season.

The Leyton Orient game sticks out in my mind especially. It was probably one of the best games of football I've ever seen from CCFC and some of the goals were outrageous.

Agreed. I went to Sixfields twice and remember seeing this game vs Colchester

The Pressley pressing game was in full force this game and we moved the ball so well. Probably up there with the best performances I've seen from CCFC.

Depends on what kinda atmosphere you enjoy, don't get me wrong I love a good sing song myself, but at Sixfields it was just a really positive and encouraging atmosphere, which I really enjoy.
None of the negative shit, getting on your own players backs etc.

The first game vs Bristol City was a classic, 5-4 win and set the stage for a successful season (albeit minus 10 pts) where we nearly made play-offs.

We were 23 points off! Even calculating for the deducted points we were still some way off.

I went to the Orient game. The only game I saw in sixfields. Great performance, thoroughly depressing experience. Atmosphere? What atmosphere? Was certainly no advertisement for players to join us.

Apart from Bright or Thomas, who were here last season and know the Ricoh, a different ground won't be any more alien to a new signing than the Ricoh.

If the groundshare is at St Andrews the playing surface may well be better than the Ricoh without rugby on it, which would appeal to the players MR is trying to sign if he's trying to play flowing passing football. So the move, from a perspective of the playing surface they get, could actually be more enticing.

As has been said, the main difference St Andrews will make is that fewer fans will lower the budget and the contract we can offer them is reduced. If the players are getting paid, like their teammates and get on with them and the manager + the way he plays football that will mean more to them than what stadium they play in.

A lot of away fans think the atmosphere at the Ricoh is one of the poorest in the league anyway and when the team is playing poorly or players are making mistakes and the crowd are getting on their backs it can feel positively poisonous, esp when you add in the anti-SISU or anti-Wasps stuff. I've said before how when we draw big crowds in it tends to lead to poorer performances from the team - they seem to feel the pressure from the stands. Smaller crowds can allieviate this and given them more freedom and therefore play better. The atmosphere could be more like away games, with a smaller but more vocal support.

As I have already said, the atmosphere was a positive one not a negative one.

You went to 1 game, I had a season ticket, therefore many more games and experienced nothing but encouragement in every one.

Fair comment, I think our results were v good and v close to playoffs at some stage in the season but tailed off towards the end, unfortunately.

Away fans from teams such as Scunthorpe, Rochdale etc that play in what can only be described as a garden shed week in week out? Let’s move to a smaller stadium with smaller crowds because a few clubs in league one come expecting a champions league atmosphere due to the size of the stadium. The argument that they would play better in front of smaller crowds is utter nonsense. I don’t care what anyone says, being at the Ricoh is a massive draw to any player compared to say playing at Northampton. It can be the difference between a player choosing us or another club.

Of course that is factored in too, but let’s say for arguments sake all of them are the same, the facilities(Ricoh) can tip the scale in our favour. The Ricoh would also in turn allow us to offer better wages, signing on fees etc as well compared a ground share budget.

I've never argued there was no encouragement. I've also never had a go at people for attending... wherever. But it's equally safe to say a club in a strange place will look completely out of place, suffer with its atmosphere, and overall find it harder (not impossible, harder) to attract players than otherwise. It seems to me that's inescapable!
