It sounds almost like you want one of our own players to fail, perhaps simply to prove your own point.

If he is messing the club about then he won't get near the first team and will be out of the door or in the bomb squad pretty quickly.
That doesn't seem to have happened yet so presumably Robins still thinks there is still a chance that he can get properly fit and be a positive influence in the squad.

If Robins thinks that, knowing that he can be ruthless with players who have served him far better than Bright, why keep carping on?

There is no doubt that to challenge for a place in this squad, even to get a place on the bench, Bright will have to work his socks off and be 100% committed to the team. If he reaches that level then great. If he doesn't then it can be put down to a gamble that failed.

What certainly doesn't seem to be the case is that his presence is having any sort of negative effect on team or squad.
In 55 years of watching City I have rarely seen a team so committed, so up for each game.
With this as the case, why not let the story of Bright play out one way or the other instead of appearing so desperate for one of our players to fail?

Tobyfair there’s a discussion amongst some people but it’s largely been a tag team of a few that have headed up this little ‘campaign’ and others have lumped on. I don’t think it’s a hope of failure, just a need to be right at any cost, which, given it’s one of our own players, is a little bizarre… but not new for whatever fucking reason.

Up to them I guess but going ‘all-in’ either way when no one really knows what’s actually going on… not even the ITK’s… is literally like begging for a hindsight fuck. And given that one of the instigators has had their arse bored to three times it’s normal circumference by repeatedly calling for taxis, you’d think they’d know better ?

That's not my reasoning at all. And I rarely slate players.
But as Irish Sky Blue said, and I agree with him, this is clearly a tight knit squad who have got each others back. Well Ive seen that sort of comsraderie undone by one bad apple before, (admittedly not in a sporting environment), and Bright strikes me as thatsort of bad apple.

Now I can't know that for sure but based on his career so far andhis cancelled contracts Id say its a fair assumption.
There are also 2 posters with decent track records are saying there's been issues and one who is generally wrong about everything contradicting them.

It's not that I want Bright to fail, I just can't see it working out with him so would be happier if he was out of the club.

I can't see it working out for Jodi Jones, Shipley or Dacosta either but I'm fully behind them and hope they prove me wrong because they're not arseholes.

Are you obsessed?

Views don't change because strangely people get upset because he did a few step overs years ago and think he's going to drag us to the prem.

Its up there with people getting upset with others pointing out dale Evans was a chancer

See cvd response.

Who gives a toss quite frankly.

It's a no-lose situation. If he comes good then we potentially have an asset to the squad.

If it doesn't then no doubt Robins will get rid. Bright is hardly "wrecking team sprit" at the moment is he...?

The debate as I see it, with that particular poster, is why you would be so happy if one of our players fails? So far judging by what we have seen on the pitch Bright has had no negative impact on the squad or the team.

I wouldn't dispute anything that Better Days says about the club, he obviously has inside knowledge of what goes on and I always look forward to his posts. I don't think that there is anywhere that he says Robins has or should give Bright the boot.

I know it's a different case and a different character but so many people were adamant that Jamie Allen should go. What a loss that would have been already to our team this season had the 'experts' on here been listened too.

I don't see that as shutting down but adding to this debate.

But it therefore seems that you are wanting Bright to go based on no evidence, just what might happen and what you have seen happen in a non sporting area.

My gripe is with the chap (not you) above who is obviously taking great delight that Enobakare is nowhere near the team yet. He isn't the only poster who seems to relish seeing one of our players fail. I don't understand that at all.

I don't think many people said the same about Jamie Allen as they have about Bright? Not many have ever questioned his attitude.

It’s random. Shipley has actually had far more abuse - the biggest accusation you can make about a professional footballer is lack of application on the field of play and he’s had that levelled at him many times.

A lot of people on here have bigged Dim up to be some kind of superstar - one even said he’s like George Best. He’s not even in the same league as Leon Best. They are embarrassed hence these ridiculous over the top attempts to shut down discussion

More than happy to be wrong, but Its likely he will never touch a match day squad and thus have been a waste of wages.

Bright has talent but his head (allegedly) screwed on wrong. Shipley seems to have lost his mojo. We’ve had many players who have bags of talent but for whatever reason their heads go daft and we end up wasting fortunes.

Kyle
Eastwood
Whelan

In the latter case Strachan went out of his way to bring him on the straight and narrow.

On the flip, McNulty seems to have have done the opposite. He left here on track and now seems not so.

Anyway, I think that’s what Doyle brought to the squad: a big brother / prefect / role model figure that the younger lads respected / got collared by.

Fadz might have a bit of that in him - I don’t know.

Either way, as I rambled earlier, getting someone in to mentor some of these young lads might be money well spent.

I’d hate to see Bright / Shipley end up doing a Kev Thornton / Robin Friday.

He said “it’s a good job George Best or Maradonna never played for this club as they’d be crucified”

Mmmmm Best had played 230 games in tbd top division won 2 league titles and a European cup at 25

Maradonna nearly 200 games in Argentina top division and then 100 in Spain and Italy premier divisions

It’s a very strange comparison to say they were similar in any way at all.

Why mention them when all he is is a poor mans Kevin Thornton

The first couple of lines from the OP says Bright could be a big player for us this season but Robins isn’t the right manager - he suggests Harry Redknapp would be

If you read the next line it goes on to say how Strachan mentored him and put him on the straight and narrow. At the time Whelan joined Strachan was 38 y/o asst manager / player, ie, someone who could be seen as a mentor / role model in the Doyle style.

I’m comfortable in my beliefs that in some cases, a mentor who isn’t necessarily the manager is key.
