Boxing Day Matches - The Memories. (3 Viewers)

I’m a few days late on this one, admittedly, but I’m curious to know what Boxing Day match sticks in your memories, as a City supporter.

The one that sticks out for me, was when we went toe to toe with Arsenal in 1999, and came out 3-2 winners.

Hedman was amazing in goal, Chippo ran his arse off in midfield (despite flagging due to being on Ramadan) and the front two of Keane and Roussel were on a psychic wavelength that day.

Had a shite Christmas, the day before, and beating Arsenal in that fashion really uplifted me. 🩵

Oddly beating Peterborough at sixfields when they thought they’d equalised but Wilson went down the other end and made it 4-2

There was a period (mainly during the first half of the season) of fantastic matches at Sixfields..... Peterborough was probably the most memorable for me.

Arsenal 3-2 for me was probably the peak of supporting City in terms of quality.

Home game 1977, from memory. Best Norwich 5.4. Again from memory, late penalty save. My aunts boyfriend, over from USA said "Jees are all the games , like this?". He gave me Pele's last game programme, Santos v New York?".

Best match I've ever seen was the 4-3 against Spurs in 1986. But I've just looked it up and it would appear we were away at QPR on the Boxing Day, and Spurs at home the next day on 27th. Hard to believe we played on consecutive days?!

So I expect this one's going to be chalked off by bloody VAR.
That would be my best game as well. It was definitely Boxing Day. Houchen with 1 just before half time and Regis with the winner. Spurs had to wear our away kit.

Definitely WASNT Boxing Day !! It was the 27th and played QPR on the 26th. Doesnt seem feasible that top flight football was played on consecutive days but that's how it was then.
