Bondi Beach Sydney incident (7 Viewers)

Chap that stopped the one shooter had absolutely no combat experience or pedigree and he took two bullets from the other shooter in the process.

To do that in the heat of the moment with your only regard being the safety of others is unbelievable, something to be celebrated amongst all the misery. What a man.

Look how easily he disarmed the guy. The shooter also looked to have next to no combat experience and failed to wrestle his gun from a very overweight middle aged man. It was frankly pathetic. A very cowardly attack from someone who would lose 99% of bar fights.

Again though, whilst that story is inspiring, we are hiding away from talking about the motives, and the problems with Islam. The usual suspects are also missing from this thread, which just about says it all.

Let's not kid ourselves, this is a very serious incident. I suspect this will rock Australia for some time to come.

I see the German police have foiled a planned attack on a Christmas market. 5 arrested and I was Surprised to see that it wasn’t disgruntled residents not happy about the parking.

Yep-a real life hero, should never have to put his hand in his pocket throughout Australia ever again.

Ffs state of this!!

Muslims shoot Jews on the other side of the world and you shoehorn in Nigel, Tommy and Rupert.

Weird. Really weird.

I'd have far more sympathy with arguments I dont even believe in over here if once, just once, people like you could accept that there is a real and genuine threat from the Muslim religion. And its more than a few extremists. This will get much worse. Pretending it doesnt exist or burying your heads will never solve it.

There's no genuine threat from an entire religion mate, that's a ridiculous thing to say. It's like blaming every Jew in the world for the atrocities in Gaza. It's a stupid and offensive comment in both cases and just leads the thickos on all sides into acts of hate, driven primarily by fear and prejudice.

And of course it's a few extremists, there are a billion and a half Muslims. Do you seriously, genuinely think they're all out to get you?

Just pointless air really.

If that has been a white supremacist you wouldn't be running rings to try and play it down.

Try telling all of this to the families that won't be seeing their loved ones coming home tonight. There's obviously a massive problem with Islamic extremists, and trying to sweep it under the carpet doesn't help anyone.

Won't let me reply @duffer but no, of course I dont think its all Muslims, that's crazy. I've said on here before my wife has brought up a young Muslim family in her job as a nanny, lovely family no issues, but those children are now 3rd generation, it's different. I work and have worked with many Muslims, again no issues at all.

It's similarly crazy to believe its only a few extremists or that the religion itself isnt an issue. Too many examples over a generation now to be isolated.

It needs addressing and more than anything, it needs the more moderate Muslims to call out their own. These attacks are rarely lone wolves, they're often planned attacks, others will be aware before they happen and if they genuinely dont want these attacks to happen in the name of their religion, then they're better placed to prevent it than anyone, yet it continues almost a weekly occurrence. Until we hear a message or see action from their own communities about how abhorrent rather than in many cases revelling in a 'victory' it will continue.

Unrelated, but locally as an example, look at the rape reported last week only 2 miles from home in Leamington where the perpetrator said 'this makes me a Muslim'. It's most extreme versions are being taught and imported. We know the Bible has issues with bits of that too, but we're not teaching our kids to follow that path.

It has to stop.

Wouldnt worry, we will just light some candles and world leaders can say theyre shocked and appalled, that will sort it
What do you expect them to do exactly?

Australia to their credit responded to the Port Arthur attack by introducing a sweeping change in their gun laws.
The US have done nothing to try and curb the gun atrocities that happen there constantly as a counter example.

You cannot account for subhuman people like this in a free, liberal and democratic country.

I get the idea of performative gestures meaning very little. But from a legislative perspective what do you want changing?

Had a few mate?

Nope. Do you think if the families of the victims saw you cracking jokes on here they’d thinks it’s acceptable?

It’s a defined terrorist attack - old Duffer seemed to think laughing emojis were inappropriate on another thread. Why are they on here?

While the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful, law abiding citizens, you cant just ignore the fact that the world's most feared terrorist organisations are all Muslim, or that Islamic fundamental ideology doesn't motivate some Muslims to commit atrocities.
Here's just a short segment from a very long list as an example

Reports now that the guy who disarmed the terrorist was actually a Christian named Edward Crabtree. Are we still allowed to call him a hero whilst the news scrambles around for another angle and a different good guy?

Thoughts @Ccfcisparks ?

People can read and form their own opinions, the headlining statistics are islamic attacks killed 6,800 between 1979-2000 and and 205,000 between 2013-2024 so to suggest it's just a few extremists is not right when the issue is getting exponentially worse and the few extremists are becoming more and more over time.

No there is no denying that but to blame all Muslims is where it goes wrong

Couldn't give a fk if he was Muslim Christian or no religion, hes a hero. That doesn't detract from saying there is a huge problem with the religion, without saying all Muslims.

The vast majority of those are in Muslim countries as part of various civil wars. And most of them looked to have peaked and are on the decrease, thankfully.

475 deaths in Europe between 2013 and 2024. Thought it would be a bit higher, that's actually quite low (but obviously it's still 475 too many).

I dont think anyone is blaming all Muslims Pete, but there's no doubt that Islam has caused us massive problems here in the west, and will no doubt continue to do so.

Can you explain it to me like I’m 16
Is it what Christians did with the empire? And we’ve moved on
