City fans … it’s been a terrible window … we need to move players on, we need to strengthen our defence; we need to raise the funds to bring players in but no one want our players.

also City fans …. It’s worrying to sell a player like Thomas.

It’s Bobby fuckin Thomas not Virgil van dyke did gods sake ….

Because there might be a bid for him he now is better than VVD…

Look at the state of this BBC report… a bid of £5m made but one source said £8m? State of this reporting…

Sheffield United have made a bid for Coventry City defender Bobby Thomas in the region of £5m.
One source also said that a bid of £8m has been registered with Coventry.
The 24-year-old moved to Coventry from Burnley in the summer of 2023 and signed a four-year deal.
He is closing in on a century of appearances for the Sky Blues, and played in both of their games so far this season.

In fairness, £8m always sounded too much. £5m is probably his value. If we can get £6m I'd be happy with that assuming we bring players in to improve.

So our much settled squad built up well and no loanees acheive the playoff's and narowly miss out. So lets start selling our best players, bring some loans and disrupt evrything?
Thomas is a good CH who has an eye for goal. Big loss if he goes. *m would be the minimum surely?
Are these unsettling times under Frank lampard? All we need was a couple of additions so let’s Sohope we turn down these offers on Thomas, Rudoni etc or I think we can kiss the playoff's goodbye already.

Forgive me but who have we sold?

Of course teams are interested in some of our players it reflects our progress. Get used to it folks.

Wilder wanted Thomas and Sheff Utd would have moved for him earlier if he’d not been sacked. Looks like Seles has just picked up Wilder’s list of targets.

I don’t think in this current market and selling to a rival that’s anywhere near acceptable. Championship player values are through the roof this summer.

He's a good player, not surprised both like him. He's not irreplaceable though.

Depends what we could maybe get a Hughes or similar for. I'd be more than happy to keep him though.

Agree. A Blades fan describing him as sloppy AF on their forum which is about right.

He's not irreplaceable, but we might not get him replaced oin this window, which is my concern.

I have seen more hysteria and panic about the potential sale of Thomas (for what I think would be a really good fee, to reinvest into better players) than when we sold Hyam on the eve of deadline day to pay for the pitch!

A lot can happen in the next 2 weeks and believe the club have shown with our recruitment of past 2/3 seasons that they know what they are doing, and should have learnt our trust in the process.

If he really is a quality centre half with potential AND young, then surely £5m is nowhere near enough

Probably because managers are just part of recruiting these days rather than being head of recruiting. Even if clubs chop and change managers they still look for stability in their internal structures.

I doubt we'll exit the window with less than 4 senior CB's.

Reducing the number of out and out CBs at the club to 1 with 2 weeks of the window to go probably isnt the best way of ensuring that!

We'd have to have someone ready to come in to sell him you'd think. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't start tomorrow.

He’s a good player and he’s got a higher ceiling (to use the favoured jargon) than Kitching.

But £8-10M is good business.

And if we end up with

KKH Hughes Doyle Brau/JDS

Collectively that’s a stronger defence.

That’s a very big if

If he is to go we need to do what Newcastle are doing with Isak, and that's not letting him move until they've signed his replacement

Well I’d rather have more details than fewer. They seem to be pretty clear in what they understand the bid to be.

Find it a bit strange there’s like 4-5 reports about clubs wanting to buy a load of our players but no reports about us wanting to buy anyone else’s players. Are other clubs just really lax with their leaks or is it just agent hype? Either way, I do wish we had some random fake rumours to give us all some fake hope we’re buying someone 🫠

It’s all bollocks - Thomas isn’t going any time soon - no “talks” have taken place - what constitutes a “talk” to these rumour mongers anyway? I take all this crap with a pinch of salt - move on - nothing to see here!!

Whatever we might think Thomas is worth, it would be a risk selling him now unless the offer was stupid. £5-8m is not stupidly good. It could help us get Hughes. OK but Tanganga is rated way higher than Thomas, and is arguably the top CB in the champ. IMO would cost £15-20m.. Doyle is a LCB so can’t replace Thomas.

The bottom line is this is not our problem. Sheffield United shit the bed by letting Ahmedhozic, their best CB by far, leave without replacing him. We need to tell them to fuck off and stew in their own juice. Sell players if we have backfilled or have enough cover already.

And miss the opportunity to sell Bobby Thomas for £8m? Yeah nah I’m taking that opportunity to get that bag.

If we could afford to bid £8m for Hughes WITHOUT selling Thomas, my expectation is we get Hughes and Doyle with the extra £8m

Maybe but we could have been bidding £8m for Hughes thinking MVE was going which now looks doubtful. If we get Hughes in, then I’d be ok to sell Bobby.

But selling BT without replacing him is pants-down territory if Sheff U are after Hughes too.

Don’t share your optimism that we’d get Hughes and Doyle but would be a good result.

5m should be a no as it doesn't compensate us enough for being so late in the window 8m you start to think.
