Always makes me smile how Bobby Gould takes the credit for Pearce. He was spotted and recommended to him by Brian Eastick, then a City scout, who went on to be Pearce’s assistant in the England U20’s setup and co managed the British team in 2012. Rarely gets a mention.

Isn't just about every player recommended by a scout though?

If you applied that logic hardly any manager would be able to take the credit for any player.

Well no I don’t think a scout recommended John Gayle or Ashley Grimes.

Might have been a bad scout.

Scouts look generally at non or low leagues and abroad. Gould signed a lot of the players in his first stint through his own connections and association with lower leagues.
