@Blades_analytics also says ‘City biggest underperformance of xG in EFL but with a solid defence makes you think what if they could get a goal scorer’ ........
It’s down to our strikers as xG is high so the chances are being created, this isn't a case of not getting ball to right areas its a case of somehow not finishing abs taking chances to even an avg level.
How's the 'expected' goals/against thing worked out? It clearly isn't average for this season. Does it include part of last season, hence why our expected goals is so much higher than say Sunderland? Or is it based on chances created/conceded?

It’s based on chances you’d expect someone to score as far as I can tell. If yours is higher than your actual goals your attack is missing easy chances, if it’s lower they’re over performing.
The graph goes from top left at the worst to bottom right at the best. Across is chances you should’ve scored, up is chances against you.
We are 4th in defence and 5th in attack. Ergo our attack is underperforming.
We've missed so many chances this season. In fact, so many times when we have I always get the feeling if the opponents had the same chance they'd put it away.
I find it odd when people try to argue against that. Even more so that some think we're above McNulty!

There are so many examples of the profligacy of our players but I would say the Chaplin one against Sunderland stands out.
I know that players will miss chances but it's the ones that matter when it's 1-1 or 0-1. One the flip side I think that Allsop would have nightmares about his miss in the last minute for Wycombe and Doncaster missed shit loads of chances in the second half. Both lost games they could and should have got something from.
Yes McNulty missed chances last season but let's be honest he scored so many that his misses pale against the ones he netted.
The difference between our strikers then and now is that McNulty carried his partner, this year they have nobody to carry them.
