I used to love the Grand National years ago, always having a flutter and joining in the sweepstake at work, but now, after hearing about so many horse deaths at Aintree over the years, I refuse to place a bet on any horse race, especially the National.
I'm a massive animal lover and it pains me to hear about it. Sadly, I don't believe it will be banned any time soon. Too much money at stake.

The worry is these big days out seem to attract as many young people as old
