As per usual it is nothing but.

Lot of high horse riding going on these past few days on here I feel.

Looking at the whole picture I can see why people's opinions differ and it's not just as straight forward as black and white as it may seem. Some is black, some is white, large chunks are great big grey areas.

Arguments on both sides.

* Franchise coming in.

*We obviously endured the Northampton saga. Similar situation.

* Wasps situation - Been a bit nomadic. Seeking new home. Already playing 50 miles away from their home since they moved to Wycombe

* Rugby not seemingly quite the same as football in terms of relocating, merging and rebranding. More commonplace.

* Rugby fans seemingly not as tribal as football fans.

* Council hypocritical after complaining re Northampton stealing our team.

* CCFC forever saying they would not stay at the Ricoh and current deal for 2 years + a further 2. As it stood, City moving out in 4 years, Ricoh without a team in 4 years.

* No bid from CCFC for the Ricoh, council and ACL need to make contingency measures to replace CCFC if and when they leave. Offer on table now. Do they wait until it is too late? How long would Wasps hang around for?

* Cov rugby not as vehemently opposed as one might expect.

*Council jumped the gun. Could have waited until consultation had taken place with the likes of the SBT and supporters’ consultation groups.

*Council needed to look after the best interests of Coventry as a whole and that means the entire electorate, not just the 13,000 fans who go to the City and Cov.

*Total distrust between CCFC owners and ACL and our council. Sisu still pursuing legal action. Bad blood

*CCFC RIP if stay as a tenant

* CCFC RIP if we relocate

*CCFC no change, just different landlord.

*CCC and ACL now removed from equation. Very much a plus point.

* Wasps say they want CCFC there (need CCFC there)

* Wasps will bleed us dry.

* CCC should have never, ever accepted a franchise into our city.

*If CCFC leave and CCC need to bring a sports team into the Ricoh, then who if not a team from outside, ie. franchise? Too big for CRFC. Cov united? (joke) If they didn’t bring a franchise team in then the Ricoh would indeed become a white elephant.

*Having a team come in from a different sport, to which you have no afinity, does not produce the same level of emotion as having your own team taken away.

Forgive me if I missed anything, but to me there is not an awful lot in there that is clear black or white. Wasps definitely a franchise, that’s as plain as day. CCC should have consulted and delayed their vote, even if it were just for a matter of days.

A lot of the other stuff on here is in the grey area. We don’t know that it will be RIP CCFC if we stay as a tenant. Some are saying it is a good deal for us, some are saying it will be a bad deal for us to remain.

Bottom line is, Wasps are here. Other than boycott their games (guessing most of us aren’t particularly rugby fans though anyway), there’s not an awful lot we can do.

Personally I am glad that ACL and CCC are out of the picture and that we are remaining at the Ricoh. At the end of the day all I want is to watch my Coventry City team play in Coventry. We have got that. I very much see that as a plus.

Let’s face it, were Sisu ever going to get their hands on the Ricoh? Seems to me like it’s the best of a bad job we have right now.

Saddened that it has come to this and Wasps are here, but I am not outraged, really angry or disgusted. Don’t think it will ever sit comfortably with me, but I am not exactly spitting blood over the matter. Can see the arguments for both sides and mistakes have been made on all sides.

What we need to do now is to try and support City and Cov as best we can and turn up in numbers wherever we can. CCFC can be a success here if we have success on the pitch I feel. Bums on seats is going to bring in revenue and a new generation of City fans to the club.

On a side note, there’s a lad in my daughter’s class, aged 10, who has always been a Coventry City fan. Always had a shoulder bag with CCFC emblazoned on it. Always been a Sky Blue supporter.

Now he suddenly has a Man City bag. He changed allegiance while we were at Sixfields after he could no longer go and watch the City.. Very much understand that position. He's lost forever I would have thought.

For me, while we were at Northampton it very much felt like I no longer had a football team.

Think we have lost a lot of fans, who lost a lot of hope.

We are here now though, at the Ricoh and we need to give the Sky Blues all the possible support we can muster. That is the number one priority and the only way out of this mess.

Can't see much point keep being disgusted and outraged etc. It's going to get us nowhere and will probably just yet again result in the us and them factions we had with the Sixfields will go/won't go situation.

We need unity. More than ever.

How many times has that lad been to the etihad?

And for the record, I said they would milk us, not bleed us dry. There's a subtle difference

Oops, my mistake. I like milk and am not so keen on blood, so I take that back.

This lad has never been to the Etihad. He can watch them all the time on the TV though can't he.

CCFC have repeatedly said they are building a new stadium, the question is why do they keep saying that? One of two scenarios for me. They are trying to distress ACL (which I always believed) or its because the Council will flatly refuse to do business with them. Due to the way the council have acted over the last week I am beginning to think that scenario is more and more likely. They have told us repeatedly Wasps have bought 100%, no they have not, at least not yet. They have refused to tell anybody about this deal, they have refused to discuss the deal, they have gone so far to try and sway public opinion by having Ann Lucas tell us all Cov Rugger are lucky to have Wasps here. In fact Ann Lucas claimed Cov Rugger are happy, since been proven otherwise....

Always think the best policy is to not believe or trust anyone.

I'm sure Sisu's legal team have got their grubby little hands all over the Higg share thing and will be looking at the whole situation with a fine toothed comb.

Can't find the figures for Man City, but Man U had 25 of their games covered live on tv last season.

Can see why if you are a Man U supporter you would just pull your chair up and watch the game on the box.

ACLs dream of ''sports franchises'' is now a reality in England. MK Franchise, Wasps Franchise RFC, JacksonvilleJags Franchise at Wembley FFS!

There will be more and more in all sports, including football. I've long feared CCFC would be franchised to Brum or London one day after they moved to Northampton and things don't look better after this week.

All people like me (and you) can do is refuse to go to watch franchise sports teams. Keeping the crowds down will put off some of these Owners from franchising.

If it makes good business sense for the club then it seems that some of our club's supporters would suddenly be in full support of the move.

A thing that probably bugs me more than Wasps coming in, is the fact that it is Wasps and we have seemingly just brought in success. We now have an instant Premiership rugby team on our doorstep.

That I do see as very similar to MK. Instead of having a team progress through the ranks and earn success the hard way, it is so much easier just to bring in a successful team at the drop of a hat.

I just wonder if they had been the same degree of excitement from the council had it been a more lowly ranked club, with the money but without the profile of Wasps. How delighted would they be then?

It's not just the franchising thing for me, it's the fact that we have just whisked a top club in and brought in success.

It feels a bit like Man City and Chelsea just throwing money at things to achieve success. So much easier just to buy a football team than try and bring young players through your ranks isn't it.

But there is a difference with people supporting the move and actually going to watch them?

I'm against it by the way just making a point.

They don't go to watch CCFC why would they watch Wasps? Different supporters altogether.

What would you say if Wasps became successful here, CovRFC prospered utilising Wasps reserves and CCFC were offered all the incremental revenues generated on match days?

That's the problem with having sky.
Every night I can watch decent football.
It becomes a problem watching football in this league when I start to expect instant control, first time passes and goalkeepers being tested.

Now and again I watch the 1987 final tape just to see us competing at that level.

It's getting more and more prevalent that these days we all as a society seemingly want entertainment to come to us and be at our fingertips rather than for us to go and seek out entertainment, especially sports, where there is guarantee whether or not you get a good product.

You watch a football game on tv and you can just switch off and change channels if it's poor fare.

Little kids always pick a top club to follow aswell as the home team, when I was a kid I liked the Wolves reigning champions etc, that soon chamged once the Sky Blues were dreamt up, we need some sort of success here for a springboard, a Wembley appearance or something.

As for this franchise ! Wasps were actively and openly looking for a "new" home for a few years and would have gone elsewhere if not here. I heard St Andrews was a possibility.

Well, A) that ain't gonna happen. If anything, RFCC very survival is now in doubt (Milton Keynes City FC folded soon after Franchise FC arrived). And B) franchising means one towns ''gain'' is anothers loss. No community is safe from having their team franchised away anymore.

It was always Coventry city for me regardless of the crap I got from liverpool fans, my mum and dad wouldn't have let me support anyone else, let alone own merchandise - sky blue shirt or england shirt that was my choice.

Used to go to some Cambridge United games when I lived down there. They were knocking around what is now L1 / L2 level at the time and pretty much everyone of their supporters supported a prem team as well, mainly Arsenal or Spurs as they were both fairly close.

It's always whoever is top of the top league when you get the football bug, when I started it was Wolves, Spurs and Burnley, my dads team, so I picked Wolves, as you do to wind the old fella up.

Just a small but important point of order as regards the '13000 Sky Blues fans'. Before all the Northampton shenanigans and we were buying tickets at the Ricoh ticket office, in chatting with the staff there one day I was told that the club had Circa 150,000 fans on their database. These were people who over the last few years had either purchased tickets or merchandise from CCFC. I accept the regular support is low in percentage terms but this can be made up of a lot of 2/3 game a season people who attend matches as a treat as and when they can afford to go. These floating fans are not fanatics but shouldn't be written out of the equation in terms of trying to downplay the importance of the football club to the city in terms of overall numbers.
The Ricoh return was an example of how many supporters would rally to the cause if there was a sniff of a modicum of success or for big 'event' type matches. I imagine without the restriction in capacity, Police interference and ticket buying difficulties we could easily have had 45,000 there that night.

Even the ones not on the system... people identify themselves with a city in terms of its football club even if they've never been in their life.

I have children. They have one club, always have and always will. CCFC only.

Its the same in all the sports they like, one team and one team only. Their choice, so comparing all kids to you or your grandchildren is comparing apples to pears.

Think when I was little I had 4 clubs besides the City, Birmingham, Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Nearly all my friends were the same. City through and through, but there were just other teams you liked for one reason or another (Villa was the name and the colour of the kit, Liverpool because I was a big fan of Kevin Keegan, Birmingham, Trevor Francis).

You would never ever consider going to see them play or ever have any merchandise, but they were just clubs you liked for one reason or another.

Certainly the norm at our school and neighbourhood.

Yeah, I liked Ajax too. All down to Johan Cryuff.

You are a different era, Nick. I had 5 football teams and 5 girlfriends (all numbered 1 to 5 in order of attractiveness).

Number 1 knew she was number 1, but number 5 also thought she was number 1. And so on for numbers 2-4.

I'm not completely stupid.

I had a Brazil shirt, 3 Cov tops and one Brum top, but I won that in a competition. It was signed by Bob Latchford.

The top prize was bag of assorted toffees and I believe the Birmingham shirt was 11th or 12th prize.
