He just doesn't take care of the ball very well. He really worries me in that defensive midfield role.

Further up the pitch losing possession can prove to be less costly, but his distribution in our own half when it goes wayward is a big concern.

If he is going to play, I would like to see him in a different position.

Being not as good as a player as Fleck does not make him a bad player.

Why is it bigi getting a battering this week? He was no way the worst player yesterday. Ricketts was hopeless but barely been mentioned, Hunt was poor, Ramage looked lost, Vincelot struggled. Pretty much everyone was shocking but bigi gets the brunt of the blame. Only Haynes and Cole for me come out with any credit.

I don't see anyone blaming Bigi for yesterday. People are just giveing their general impression upon him since his return and also, as he is playing in the same role as Fleck, there is an obvious camparison there to be made.

Being a different player, and not as good, does not make him a bad player.

Didn't think he played too badly today. A couple of over hit crosses but that was the only thing I thought he did wrong. It was noticeable that the first time he overhit a cross that there were a few itching to jump on any mistake he made and they did it with aplomb.

This. I've made a note of this to some mates who have generally observed and agreed. Fleck can misplace 15 passes in a game in sometimes suicidal areas and no one bats an eyelid, bigi does it and it's like he's just declared he's a villa fan. Fleck has had a good season but it sounds like some people in here are comparing bigi to Xavi not John fleck!

And as I have quite clearly said, I don't think he is a bad player. He very much worries me though in that Fleck role.

15 misplaced passes in suicidal areas in one game? You sure about that?

Fleck looks assured on the ball and is more confident. Bigi is edgy and seems to find it harder to bring the ball under control at times and his passes to at times seem a lot more hurried than Fleck's.

You've misquoted what I said... 15 misplaced passes, sometimes in suicidal areas. I don't think Bigi is particularly great and isn't a like for like replacement for fleck, my issue is that people are slating him when he hasn't been particularly bad, unlike ricketts yesterday, and also are making out like fleck is this miracle working midfielder who everyone should aspire to be

I honestly couldn't disagree more. Bigi to me looks assured. Everything he does is slick. He's not the best defensively and doesn't put himself about enough I would agree with that. But I technical ability I think is very good. Fleck is busier but I don't think there's much between them in footballing ability.

I don't think I have ever seen John Fleck make 15 misplaced passes in a game. Sounds widely exaggerated I would say.

Bigi looks assured? Really? Okay, everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, but there have been a number of incidents where he has even struggled to get the ball under control before he even begins to think about a pass.

He seems rushed a lot of the time and not calm at all. I would describe him as a busy player and not really assured at all. I don't see Fleck even half as busy as Bigi. Him and Fleck are two completely different players and if Bigi is to be in the side I would like to see him higher up the pitch.

Should probably turn this thread around - what are Bigi's attributes and what is his ideal position on the pitch?

A little unfair as Ricketts is probably up there as a candidate for player of the season. It was Hunt's first game so is not applicable.Bigi as otis mentioned is out of position. He would be better off further up the field because he can do more damage. How many defence splitting balls can he play from where he is playing? Not many at all,he has the talent, just needs to push up a bit.

Ideally, his position would be in Newcastle reserves, on the bench.

Why he was bought back is a complete mystery and as I said weeks ago an error of judgement.

No better than Connor Thomas but with less energy.

I admit though I got it wrong as I said at the time he's an average league one player.

He's not even that.

Cannot take grendel's assessment of any player seriously because its based on whether he likes them or not and nothing else.

So where should he play in the midfield? It's all well and good looking assured or having a good first touch but if he can't pass forward or accurately quickly enough and as he's not a defensive midfielder then I don't see what he adds to the team, in any way.

It's you that seems weirdly obsessed with him.

I guess your somewhat annoyed as it seems the majority agree with my assessment of him.

He is NOT a defensive midfielder in my book. Scares the life out of me there. Too much wayward distribution.

If you asked me though where I should play him I would honestly have to say I just don't know. Can't see where he fits in our side.

That he is mediocre in the extreme. I come to that observation by watching him play

Never rated him but more forgiving of our own so more patient with Haynes rcc maddison etc he went for the cash wasn't good enough came back and still not good enough. He will be at Nuneaton in two years.

We owe him nothing and whilst not to blame for recent demise as many poor performances around him, I can't find a single thing that has been positive about his return. People having a go at hunt after one game and were not forgiving to Cole, at least they have done it and can hopefully recapture form. Bigi I'm afraid imo will never make it.

Strange Grendel and Rob9872 are not working for Premier League clubs, they could save them a fortune trying to develop lost causes.

Not sure what Bigi brings to the team myself. Too much side passing, nothing going forward, nothing going back. Pretty ineffective.

Pretty much agree with the consensus.

btw did anyone see JOB have a right old go at him after the penalty was given, can't figure out why job is laying into him for. Bigi seemed rattled.

Don't get your point.

He is a lost cause to Newcastle. They want rid.

We seem to be the only taker.

Why?

Most of our players are lost causes according to you.
