I think bigi should be given a chance behind the two front men he was pretty good getting forward for the time he was on against posh and played an awesome lay off for gardner which he should of buried.gardner should also be playing more forward in one of the cm roles and deegs could go into the gap in front of the defenders.

It would be better like this.

------------------murphy---------------
keogh-------craine----mcpake----hussey
------------------deegs-----------------
----------gardner-----thomas/bell
----------------bigi/sheffers-------
---------juke--------------platt/cody

subs:dunn,wood,christie,baker,cody/platt

mcpake because he knows when to put it into row Z where they cant score .
to me that doesn't look like to bad a squad to me.

the one glaring thing missing from our squad (and any of our squads since Mifsud's departure) is pace. This has hindered us for years. If you look at teams that do well in this league (or indeed any league) they have at least 2 players than can go past an opponent and get a cross in. How many times do we see any of our players get to the byline and deliver?

I said for some time that we don't get our midfielders going past the strikers often enough - but to get into the box, not to the goal line. If you're expecting that, you play 4-4-2 - i.e. wingers, which we ain't got.

WE have got winger's just not with a lot of pace we've got them in sheffers bell baker and sheffers isn't to slow and also lot's will disagree but eastwood is pretty pacey when fit.

how about this for a lineup? 4-2-3-1
.......................................................Murphy...........................................................
................Christie...................Keogh.........Cranie...............Hussey...........................
............................................Clingan.........Thomas..................................................
................Baker..............................Gardner.....................McSheffrey
.........................................................Juke..............................................................

We could get Gardner running from deep to support Juke. Juke's role will be to recieve the ball to feet and hold it up. Get the two wide players into the box, in other words play them more as inside forwards than actual wingers. That way the two full backs can run into the space on the overlap. Simples!

yeah that is an option of course but for me Thomas and Clingan will be better at keeping the midfield ticking over more efficiently and I think Keogh is fitter than McPake. It's all relative anyway, for Thorn it's the diamond and nothing else!

yeah but mcpake know's where the ball need's to go OUT THE STADIUM like at donny and yeah probs true for thomas bigi selection there bigi's more attacking we can have him as super sub

I rate McPake highly, I think as a defender he's no nonsense and just what we need in our predicament but at the moment he must be well behind the others in terms of fitness (the benefits of having a fitness coach!) and his rustiness could well be exploited. The conundrum is how to get players lacking in fitness fit again without valuable game time. Why did we get rid of the reserves again?!

Going back to the original post, I think it has to be worth a go. He also looked the most threatening/creative player in the final third against Hull. No point talking about Gardener, we only have him a couple more games.

true but we might as well try and get the best out of Gardner until he goes. I think Bigi does have the potential to become a vital attacking threat though

McPake needs to go out on loan to get games - he is horrendously bad when he's only half fit. His defending has been shocking when he's played this season for that very reason. - check back at the millwall, southampton, Doncaster and bury goals in fact we've conceded 11 goals in the 4 games he's played in this season.

Mcsheffrey ain't too slow but he not quick either - injuries have taken their toll and he's lost the yard of pace that made effective. If he goes past someone their invariable recover get the ball back.

against doncaster he was pretty good i thought he was solid kicked the ball out the stadium stoped them scoring in the last min.
against southampton he had played 3 games in a week after only just coming back from injury and was only on for 2 goal's.
And most goals arn't his fault anyway and the fittness would have been sorted by now if we had a fitness coach

I'd play 4-2-3-1

------------------Murphy------------------
--Christie--Keogh------Craine--Hussey--
-------------Bigi--------Thomas----------
--Gardner----McDonald----McSheffery-
---------------Jutkiewicz-----------------

Drop Clingan the useless piece of sh*te and play both Bigi and Thomas.

Think people are forgetting that McDonald has pace.

We just haven't seen it yet.

Christies was sensational against peter'boro, he's such an attacking threat and is just getting better and better.

He's gonna be brilliant in L1 next year if we can keep it.

He was definitely at fault for their equaliser - he was stood 5 yards behind the rest of the back four playing the scorer on. I'm not saying he is crap per se, I'm saying he is particularly dodgy when he isn't fully fit.

That's unless he has 'second season syndrome' like A lot of young player (e.g Gunnar)

Spot on. I've been crying out for us to get some pace since Mifsud, we have to be one of the slowest teams in the division. Look at Swansea with Dyer and Sincalir, they ripped up the league with their pace and direct running.

Coleman ruined Mifsud when he tried to convert him to a winger but remember when Mifsud played up front? He absolutely terrorised Wolves defence, two goals at Old Trafford and Ewood Park, that solo effort away at Sheffield Wednesday. We wasted Mifsud, he could've easily been a 20+ goal a season man alongside a target man.

As for Bigirimana, he looks so short of confidence at the moment. Cracking player but seems to be a different player from the one that started the season. One example was last Saturdays game at Peterborough, he had two opportunities to have a shot at goal but laid it off each time with body language which said to me he was afraid of messing up a shot.

He needs to get some meat on him as well as he is quite lightweight but a very skilfull player who has the potential to play at a higher level.

Agreed, he was our man of the match in my opinion, and i even think Hussey did really well getting forward, in the 2nd half especially.

And i think putting Bigi behind the front two is a good idea, we have to try something anyway.

WE have got winger's just not with a lot of pace we've got them in sheffers bell baker and sheffers isn't to slow and also lot's will disagree but eastwood is pretty pacey when fit.
1. McSheffrey doesn't track back. which since we expect full-backs to get forward, is a good part of any winger's game.
2.Baker scored all his goa;s for stockort playing jus behind the strikers (i.e. at the point of the diamond), which leaves
3. Bell - say no more.
As for Eastwood having a bit of pace, as you say, he's not fit, and shows no sign of wanting to get fit. And what happened to playing people in their proper positions?

Mifsud scored more from out wide though?
Thats true but I feel only because he ended up playing a load more games out wide than as a striker.

I bet if you looked into it, he has a better goals to minutes ratio playing up front than out wide as a winger.

Murphy

Craine Wood McPake Keough

Clingan

Deegan Gardner

Bigarami

McSheffery Juketswich

Strong Experieced Defence. Two Good Strikers. And the midfield has very passing players who Deegan, Bigarami and Clingan plus Gardner. And Deegan, Clingan and Gardner can score from midfield.

Pretty sure most of Mifsuds goals came playing wide of a 4-3-3 form under Dowie anyway which is different than playing wide of a 4-4-2 which he did under Coleman

sheefer's is a winger and said he's not good at defending, we dont need baker to score goals and he's scored 1 so far playing there for us
bell i want to give a shot i rate him
and eastwood i didn't say play as a winger i just said he had pace

Very good point. I think he got 1 in 19 playing RW under Coleman at the end. He was abysmal in that role, and it helped to finish him off at CCFC.

I too, thought Gael looked like Decent winger when he came on against Hull, perhaps he should be tried in a wide position
from the start of games.
he has the skill to go past defenders in the box, and I can see him being our Danger man, if played in this position.
tank top......
