Having enjoyed the first one, I watched Black Phone 2 last night. It didn’t get a great reception here. It was alright.

Not scary/tense but it passed a couple of hours or so.
I know most/all horror films are a bit daft but all too often they get a bit too daft, if that makes sense. All a bit overblown.

I should say I really like horror films, and watch a lot of them and this is nowhere near the worst I’ve seen. Just not as good as the first one.

Watched a film yesterday called The Senior, based on a true story about an American college football plater called Mike Flynt it starts in 1970 where he is the captain of us college team but gets kicked out in his final year for fighting. Forwards to 2007 and he works in construction attends a school reunion and decided to try out for the team again. Pretty good

Plur1bus - Apple TV

Got absolutely fabulous reviews.

Watched the first two episodes and absolutely loved the first episode. The second one, was a bit batshit crazy, but still liked it.

At times, in the second one, I felt like I was in a episode of The Good Place.
Watched the first two and absolutely love it. Although you have to hope he has it all mapped out otherwise there's a high risk of it going to absolute shit at some point like Lost.

Went to see this last night. Agree it wasn't as good or original as the first one, but I still liked it.
Was a bit more farfetched than the first one, and I preferred when the grabber was an actual person rather than something supernatural.
Thought the music and visuals were really good though, especially the grainy dream scenes.
Felt a lot like a nod to Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday 13th.

Yes! That’s what I was thinking re Nightmare on Elm Street…and agree about preferring the less supernatural original.

I didn’t hate it just not as good as the first one.

Finished Celebrity Traitors the other day.
I thought it was okay, but as it's celebrities going for prize money towards a charity, it doesn't feel like there's much risk or drama in it.
The normal version is playing for potentially life changing money, and so there is a lot more tension and incentive to win.
I think it's also dependant on how interesting the celebrities are

We loved it. But then we all liked Stephen Fry and Joe Wilkinson and Nick Mohammed and Celia Imrie and Lucy Beaumont anyway, so were rooting for them.

If it had all be celebrities we didn't give a hoot about, it would have been different, but we felt invested and loved Joe Marler as the show wore on

We really enjoyed it and even though it was for charity, then all really went for it.

To be fair, I think the celebrities all came across really well too, and I actually didn't mind which side would win in the end (which might have also been my issue with it).
The calibre was good this year, and I hope they keep that up rather than it being full of Love Islanders and disgraced politicians (although the latter could also be interesting)

Watched ‘Chris Tarrant’s Extreme Railways’ on Prime. Basically the producers have set it up like An Idiot Abroad, in one episode he’s in Cuba and takes a train to ‘Morón’ then onwards to Guantanamo Bay. But the train doesn’t turn up, so he hitchhikes 200 miles and they just film him begging for lifts.

Great entertainment

Nuremberg.

Based on the book, The Nazi and the Psychiatrist.

The good, Russell Crowe is magnificent as Herman Goring ( a smiling, affable and charming monster )

The support cast, inc Michael Shannon as the Chief Prosecutor, aren`t far behind Crowe in their performances.

The bad, Remi Malek plays the same character he always plays as the psychiatrist ( a twitchy, odd, misfit ) and didn`t really do it for me.

The real concentration camp footage, is the most horrendous I`ve ever seen and you could`ve heard a pin drop in the cinema when it was on.

Not quite Schindlers List, but not far off it.

A very moving film and one for which I think Crowe will receive nominations for.

On my list of films to watch that one. I remember really enjoying the 90s version with Brian Cox as Göring.

Anyone who enjoys historical dramas will enjoy this one :

Death by Lightning - 4 episodes on Netflix.

The life and times of the 20th American President, James Garfield, that probably nobody has heard of before, as he only lasted 6 mths before he was assassinated.

Michael Shannon plays the president and is excellent, but Mathew Macfayden, really steals the show, as the mentally ill stalker, con man who becomes obsessed with the president.

I`m not sure how historically accurate it is, but the sets are wonderful and it`s very well acted, with a great supporting cast.

It`s an easy one to overlook, but it`s very ood.

Anyone started Pluribus on Apple TV?

I’m always willing to trust the process when it comes to Vince Gilligan, and Rhea Seehorn (and the camerawork) is predictably great. But I’m struggling with it somewhat and not entirely sure how far they can stretch the concept. Especially with such a grumpy lead character.

Loving it so far but it does have that nagging feeling it could 'do a Lost'

True, but I think there are going to be so many twists along the way and I think it will and can and will weave in many a direction (look at Walter White's transformation)

For the moment, Carol is very funny (get me a grenade).

We are only 3 episodes in. I'm certain it's not going to be 50 odd mins of Carol just being grumpy every episode.
