They turned it into some kind of macabre theatre, resulting in something that was crass and offensive.
It does get better once he`s caught though.

About 8 years late to the party (or maybe 24 years early) but finally got around to watching Blade Runner 2049 last night.
Thought the visuals and sound were brilliant, and the world itself is really interesting but the story and pacing wasn't all there.
Reminded me immediately of what I thought about Dune and wasn't surprised to find out it's the same director.
Enjoyed it overall though, and I've not seen the original film so might have to watch that as well.

Even though the original Blade Runner is 43 years old, it`s still the best sc-fi film of all time and apart from the 80`s hair on the women and the big baggy 80`s suits on some of the men, it hasn`t dated one little bit.
Every single bit of of is perfection, the beautiful, vivid and lush cinematography, the special effects, coupled with the soundtrack by Vangelis, which complements every single scene perfection.
The cast and sets are perfect and the piano scene with Rachael and Dekard, is one of the all time romantic scenes of all time and the " Tears in the rain " monologue by Rutger Hauer at the end, is something that will be remembered for all time.
It`s untouchable perfection and is a million times better than the book it came from.
The problem Blade Runner 2049 had, was how do you follow something that is perfect ?
You can`t and they knew that, so didn`t try to compete with it, instead the film was taken in a different direction.
Instead of the vivid, colourful and lush cinematography of the origianal, they went for an almost monochrome effect, with harsh and stark colours, with an industrial landscape and instead of the beautiful and magical Vangelis soundtrack, they went for a really industrial sound, to again compliment the cinematography.
All of this is the trademark of the director Dennis Villeneuve, this is how he makes films - see the Dune reboots.
The one misstep ( imo ) was casting Jared Leto in his role, as he just didn`t add anything or do anything for the film, apart from that it`s a truly standout film, just not perfect like the original Blade Runner, which will never be surpassed. ( imo )
Watch the version of the original version of Blade Runner with the voice over, as that`s the one to watch ( imo ) and see what you think ?

I loved the original, voice over version. That's how I saw it at the cinema and for me it just harked back to the 1940's, film noir, Philip Marlowe/Sam Spade movies of Humphrey Bogart and I adored all those.
Really love both versions of Blade Runner, but do have such a soft spot for the original movie.

Me too, I`ve lost count of how many times it.
It`s a film I`ll happily watch over and again and still see something I missed each time I watch it.

I really liked the foggy neon cyberpunky world they created along with the Hans Zimmer soundtrack so interested to see what the original is like.
Also thought they were going to try and set up a third film with the ending and was surprised there aren't any plans currently

Same here.
Think the new cut is a fabulous film and one of my favourite films of all time, but every time I see it, I do still yearn for and think about, the voiceover version.

It`s a strange one, as usually the voice overs in films don`t really add to a film, but with Blade Runner, it just fits perfectly.
Apocalypse Now is another one, where the voice over works perfectly too.

It was a toss up between that and the del Toro version of Frankenstein tomorrow.
Frankenstein won, as it just looks like such a visual spectacle and one that should be seen at the cinema.
( I know it comes out on Netflix next week )

Ballad of a Small Player ( just out on Netflix ).
It`s a good film, that could`ve been better, Colin Farrell is fantastic though.
He plays a gambling addict, who`s fled the UK, to set himself up as a high roller, in the Chinese Las Vegas, Macau.
He gets himself deeper and deeper dept, until he finds salvation in the form of a Chinese lady who works in one of the casinos he visits and through Chinese spirituality and folklore, he finds a way to redeem himself ( it sounds corny, but it isn`t )
The cinematography is beautiful, lush vivid colours, combined with the backdrop and glitz of Macau.
Parts of the film felt flat, but it`s still worth a watch and as I`ve said, Colin Farrell is flawless in his role as the fake Lord Doyle.

Went to see Guillermo del Toro`s reboot of Frankenstein last night.
Wonderfully Gothic, with stunning sets and cinematography - as you`d expect from a del Torro.
Probably the best Frankenstein film for a very long time.
Slightly over long at 2hrs 25 mins, with a standout performance from Jacob Elordi as the monster - plays him with a real tenderness, much more in keeping with the book, that he`s portrayed in the films.
Some strange casting with Mia Goth, as Elizabeth and Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein - they did nothing wrong, but posh British actors would`ve been better, as neither of them completely nailed the accent.
Drops on Netflix at the weekend, but it was a film that`s best appreciated on the big screen.

Years ago we had a tv in the front room, as well as the back room which we live in.
She was seeing so little of me, she made me take the tv out of the spare room.
So what I do now, when she`s watching her mindless pap ( Bake off etc ) is get a book out and read for the duration of her mindless drivel , which winds her up no end.
We once struck a deal, where she watches one my films and then I have to watch one of her films ( a rom com )
I soon put a stop to this nonsense, by choosing Bone Tomahawk as the first film for her to watch with me.
Needless to say, that was the end of that agreement
