Anyone seen the new Spider-man film? Heard it's meant to be really good but does it require watching the other recent Marvel films?

Thought it was very good - but would echo what Faz said too - you could do with watching Far from Home as a minimum - if you watched Homecoming and the last 2 Avengers Films it would give you more understanding as a whole but not essential.

I think you can watch No Way Home in isolation but you’d miss out on a few references.

Binged the first two earlier in the year when I discovered it. Didn’t realise there was a new series. Can’t wait.

Watched The Suicide Squad earlier at the two eldest kids’ request. I thought the first one was dreadful. This was an improvement for sure but still miles behind the Marvel stuff for me.

Also re-watching Band of Brothers as the wife hadn’t seen it. Even better second time round, just fabulous television.

Another Round - a Norwegian film about a group of teachers who decide they’re going to work while drunk to turn their lives around. It’s great.

Saw it on a plane, so not sure!

But it’s really good - a great study of male friendship and midlife crises (not that I know much about either of those)

Watched 'Don't Look Up' last night. Pretty good 6/10 for me. Probably not funny enough to be a legit comedy drama, maybe suffers from real life killing satire a bit. Like when Ron Perlman fires his gun at the comet. Should be ridiculous but you can imagine a large band of people doing that now.

It's not really about a comet though is it?

Substitute the comet for climate change and it's already happening.

Just finished Harlan Coben's Stay Close on Netflix. Very average and a bit ridiculous.
No idea how they got James Nesbitt to sign up.

Very much falls into the same category as his other stuff (The Stranger was pretty good) and Clickbait where it's a bit shit but you binge it to see how it ends/get it over with

A lot of Harlan Coben's TV adaptations seem to be a bit ropey.

Well, to be fair, his books are a bit ropey too.

They're like a box of Jaffa cakes.

Once you start you have to finish, but when you do finish, you feel like you really should have consumed something more nutritious.

Very enjoyable at the time though.

Succession is by far the best thing on TV right now, brilliant cast, acting and close to the truth of a certain Media tycoon family.

Agreed again. Was hopeful that it was going to pay homage to the games whilst still being decent... Did neither, utter utter tripe.

Turgid.
The game/movie crossover hasn’t really worked from the ones I’ve seen…from my recollection. I may be missing an obvious great though. Silent Hill(the film) was alright.
Super Mario Bros, was of course an absolute belter…Hoskins was robbed of the Oscar that year!

How can you forget the classic that is Tetris?

Rampage was OK for what it was. But generally the idea of taking story ideas from a medium stuffed with failed scriptwriters isn’t the wisest. Holding out hope for Uncharted with Tom Holland.
