Started Stick on Apple TV. Similar theme to Ted Lasso (but not as good yet), except its a downbeat former Pro Golfer that takes the leading role, played by Owen Wilson.

Kind of thing you can watch just before going to sleep. Easy watch, a few funny moments.

I'm enjoying, getting better as the series goes on which is always a good sign

Got good reviews. Really looking forward to it. Haven't jogged my memory on the previous films recently, but apparently not needed

28 years later was simply brilliant.

I think it’s going to split opinion, but I already can’t wait for part 2

Is there a part two? That would explain it feeling unfinished at least. I thought it was OK but had more plot holes than my ten year old telling why her homework isn’t done.

Well then even less excuse for the piss poor world making then TBH. If they’ve spent half as long explaining how the entire plot has changed from the first two and not doing a bad Adam Curtis impression with stock footage for no reason I might not have spent the entire movie going “that makes no sense” and “how the fuck is that the case”.

Maybe they’ll explain it all in a later one but changing so much lore from the series with zero explanation is a bit off imo. Felt the story fell flat and the kid wasn’t particularly likeable. My missus enjoyed the naked well hung zombie tho.

Has the plot changed? Seemed consistent to me.

Seriously? Maybe I missed some massive explanatory bit but:

The island - seemingly has been there from the first outbreak, so has the Dr on the mainland. Yet we were told that 28 years ago the place was empty bar the 12k they’ve allowed back into the Isle of Dogs, most of which got fire bombed.

The rest of the world - the one slide of text meant to explain things is identical to 28 weeks later and says the continent shut us off, but 28 weeks later literally ends with zombies all over Paris. Seemingly never mentioned.

The fact they had a route to a cure at the end of the last movie that seems to have gone nowhere.

It took the zombies six months to die of starvation originally from 70m people but with less than 12k they’ve been going for thirty years.

The fact the Dr is alive on his own for thirty years and everyone for miles around knows where he is. Yet three army guys don’t last five seconds.

The whole “fatties” and “alpha” thing makes no sense at all. And the explanation “oh it’s people on steroids” makes even less sense. Clearly the Alphas are near human level smart and yet still attack like lesser zombies. Then the whole zombie pregnancy thing, they’re infected with Rage and we’re supposed to believe they found love and had a nice night in with Zombiflix and chill? And what happens normally they eat the baby cos its human? What’s the deal with the fatties? Where did they come from? Why are they like that? It feels like they went “28 years have gone by so any crazy shot could be the case” but none of it lines up with the virus lore they’d set up.

That’s before we get to the plot holes in this plot and the fact that yet again Dads a turbo c**t so it’s OK his kids are cunts too.

Watch it and pretend you haven't seen it.

Ballerina.

Started off a bit slow and laborious, as her backstory was introduced, but once it got going, it went full John Wick.

The storyline of the sinister cult was really inventive, the battle with the flame throwers was off the scale and the cameo with Keanu Reeves really lifted the final act too.

Ana de Armas surprisingly good in the new John Wick role too.

All set up nicely for a new franchise.

Straw on Netflix.

Was recommended by a friend of the missus and I’ll be ignoring her recommendations in future. Ludicrous story with an attempted essentially “it was all a dream” at the end and some of the worse acting I’ve seen since I taught sixth form media studies.

The latest Storyville, The Contestant, is absolutely nuts. About a guy that goes on a Japanese comedy show and becomes basically the first reality TV star.

Nasubi! What a man!
I kinda remembered him/the show without really knowing anything more than he was in a room for a while…Big Brotheresque.

Absolutely fucking nuts.

Watched it last night too.

It was a film I`d really wanted to see on the cinema, but missed with it only getting a limited release.

I`d been really looking forward to it, but thought parts of it felt a bit flat ?

I appreciate it was filmed, " as it happened " and the whole purpose of the film was to try and keep it as real as possible, but I just thought some of it didn`t really mesh well together - the two Iraqi soldiers for instance ?

I couldn`t really work out what their purpose was in the film, other than to belittle and ultimately get blown to pieces, with no one giving a toss ( maybe that was the point of them ! )

It was brilliant in the cinema. When the first tank blew up it genuinely nearly blew me away. The sound engineering was extraordinary.

Wasn’t the film an account of what actually happened/recollection of what happened so not sure it’s about what was the point of them in the film

I did get the feeling that it was a film that needed seeing in the cinema, as I streamed it on a lap top and you couldn`t really get a proper feel for the intensity of their situation or surroundings as a result.

The sound was immense.
I thought it was good. Quite a ‘small’ film. Not overly dramatic/sympathetic one way or the other.

From what I read, it was a totally faithful account of the incident, which is as you say is the point of the film.

I just found the portrayal of the Iraqi soldiers as " lesser " soldiers, who looked ready to leg it at any moment, a bit odd.

Absolutely wild isn’t it! The cultural differences within “humour” made it a very bizarre and difficult watch tbh.

“Was there a time you found yourself struggling mentally?

“Almost every day”

**whole studio audience laughs uncontrollably**

Waterfront on Netflix. Watched episode 1 late afternoon Sunday and me and Mrs GE had finished off the 8 part series just after midnight. Great drama after a slowish start. Definitely will be looking for a second series in the future. Plenty of claret, sex and violence !

Anyone watched - All of Mankind ( Apple )

It`s been on my to watch list for a long time and I`ve finally got around to starting it.

I`ve done two episodes so far and although it`s meticulously produced, with a top notch cast, I`m struggling with it.

Does is get better, as there`s four series, with forty episodes ?

I liked it and am looking forward to the next series but didn’t enjoy the last one as much. Depends how much you like alternate history I guess.

How much does Man In The High Castle follow the book? I read the book earlier this year but wouldn’t have thought it would stretch to multiple seasons!
