Yes been looking forward to this as i have read all the books - sadly the wife could'nt handle it as that first episode was setting the scene and having read the book i was able to explain what was going on - but no so i have to find the time watch it when she's in the other room too near the wine - Assad is a great character

I`ve read the very first book, that this series is based on and enjoyed it very much.

Are the rest of the books as good or do they become a bit " samey " ?

Assad is an absolute genius character, totally leftfield and you`re always trying to work out whether he was one of the good guys or one of the bad guys turned good, when he was in Syria.

I like the Scandi noir books of Larsen and Nesbo et al - Olsens books are quite whacky in that the plots are constantly turning and i quite like that !

There was a great drama on beeb 2 at around eleven last night featuring Emma Thompson where she's a judge, Wil be on iPlayer somewhere!

Very late to the party with this, but finally got round to watching all six series and 89 episodes of Vikings !

It`s a whisker behind Game of Thrones ( imo )

Not as complicated, which made it easier to follow, but lacked the vasts amounts of money spent on the likes of special effects of GOT, which doesn`t particularly detract from it.

Some truly epic characters - Ragnar, Lagertha, Bjorn, Loki, Ivar etc.

It`s not often I don`t want something to end, but this was one of them.

The first 3 series of Vikings are genuinely up there with the best of Game of Thrones imo.
Great soundtrack too.
It's just after that it falls off a cliff, and struggles a bit without some of the main cast.

Found Vikings Valhalla hard work tbh, it's interesting following a slightly later timeline but the writing isn't anywhere near as good.

Slightly related to Vikings, the second series of 'Black Snow' on BBC iPlayer is really good. Better than the first.
Australian detective series starring Travis Fimmel. Really enjoyed it, and hopefully they announce a third soon

Vikings vahalla any good ? As good as Ragnar

Personally I didn't think so! Hasn't got any characters as interesting as the main cast from the early series, and it feels more action based.

Probably worth giving a go though if you liked the original series

I think you can pretty much guarantee, that anything Travis Fimmel is in is going to be good.

He just has a real screen presence.

He`s very good in another Aussie tv drama, which is a bit off the wall - Boy Swallows Universe.

Was reading earlier that there's a set of films which are massive in Scandinavia. The interesting bit was after making 4 of the biggest films going in that part of the world they sacked everyone off and recast the entire thing as the author didn't think they were close enough to the books!

It`s very good, but it`s quite off the wall, which you`ll quickly realise when you start watching it.

Don`t let that put you off, as it`s pretty much a word for adaptation of the excellent book of the same name and it gets a lot darker as it progresses.

There`s some real laugh out load dark humour in there too.

Ah don’t say that was looking forward to that.

Watched How to Train Your Dragon, it was alright. Missus liked the original and liked this. Probably worth a watch with the kids.

Had absolutely no interest in this when it was announced, but it actually looks decent

Also a sequel to Romulus has been announced, which was also really good I thought

Looks good but after Andor and this I find it very funny how because we keep remaking 70s sci fi we’ve got all these futuristic worlds with ancient CRT green screens in them.

Brilliant film. Saw the short years ago and wasn’t sure it would work extending it to a full film but there’s nothing in there you’d cut out

Watched the latest offering from Saint Nicolas Cage last night - The Surfer.

What a very odd film, trippy and a real nod to 70`s film making, but highlighting about toxic masculinity at the same time.

I thought Saint Nic was very good in this and despite it being so weird and trippy, I really enjoyed it.

Haha yeah, the prequel Star Wars trilogy seemed to ignore this and went with more advanced technology than the original trilogy/Andor

Not on the same planet as Long Legs !

As @Ccfcisparks says, just weird and trippy, which leads you to start believing that you`re not actually seeing what`s in front of you.

Spaceballs sequel has been announced. Was not excited in the slightest until I read the Deadline article that the original cast are returning including Rick Moranis coming out of retirement for his first movie since 1997!

Whoever is replacing John Candy has a very tough act to follow.
