Adolescence

They probably could have done it in 2 episodes. The first 2 were really good, then it was just a bit pointless for the last 2.

Latest episode of Invincible is absolute brutal. Brilliant episode. The monologue from Conquest is a thing of beauty.

Watching Netflix's adaptation of the Three Body problem.

It's a high budget Sci-Fi if you like that sort of thing, based upon 3 volumes of novels by Chinese author Liu Cixin ('The Three-Body Problem' , 'The Dark Forest' and 'Death's End').

Synopsis: Imagine a universe patrolled by numberless and nameless predators. Imagine what might happen to any civilisation unwise enough to broadcast its location. Oh fuck!

They have so far done only series one of a predicted 4 series, so far I've only got to episode 4 and they've just killed John Bradbury's character (Samwell Tarly in the HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones), I wouldn't bet against him coming back at least virtually.

I’ve just read the first novel. Hard work at times but fun stuff. Interesting to read a Chinese novel tbh. Just bought the second book and looking forward to seeing what happens.

Read the book which was a slog at times and entertaining at others. Thought the show was very underwhelming considering how much cash they threw at it, but it never struck me as a very filmable book!

Supposedly the plans for two more seasons have been replaced by just having three more episodes instead - that ain’t gonna be easy.

I was only kinda sorta into this show, but episode 7 was one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in years

Watched - The Gorge ( Apple ) over the weekend.

The reviews have been a bit so so, but I really enjoyed.

Best described as a scfi, with a bit of horror and a bit of romance.

Pretty much a perfect remove the brain and enjoy film.

Anna Taylor - Joy as always is a delight to watch and gives a really good performance.

I bought the lot in paperback, decent price for a 2nd hand copy from abebooks.co.uk.

Reading all 3 may take me some considerable time but I have a holiday coming up which includes quite a bit of travelling.

Adolescence ( Netflix )

A stunning and frightening piece of television, that will surely scoop up all the awards too.

If you`ve got teenage kids, this will resonate with you and frighten the life out of you.

Stephen Graham, who co wrote it, as well as starred in it, truly is a special actor.

It`s rightfully got the nation talking about how social media is to some extent controlling and influencing the lives of our kids and hopefully, it`ll get taken into schools and discussed too.

Powerful stuff.

Just started watching this tonight, two episodes in and yes it’s frightening stuff.

This is what we have to be vigilant in schools about with even less resources and time to spot it.

I've just watched it, I've got two sons who are not yet teenagers and couldn't help put the older one in Jamie's shoes. Terrifying like you say.

Somehow I doubt it's authenticity.

Netflix's Adolescence inspired by true story of Croydon girl's murder

Adolescence, starring Stephen Graham, follows the story of a 13-year-old boy accused of stabbing a teenage girl to death
www.getsurrey.co.uk

This is the murder it is supposed to be based upon. The 16 yr old murderer was autistic.

Hassan Sentamu faces life sentence for stabbing Elianne Andam to death

Hassan Sentamu was convicted of murder after 11 hours and 42 minutes of deliberation by the jury
www.mylondon.news

And this psycho was the 'inspiration' for including elements about Andrew Tate influences.

https://www.itv.com/news/2025-03-06/crossbow-killer-kyle-clifford-watched-andrew-tate-videos-before-rape-and-murders

It is a fictional scare story.

I thought each episode was exceptional, and each different in tone. It wouldn't have had the same brooding intensity squished into two episodes for me.

The one take camera technique added to the intimacy of it all and the casting/acting was exceptional.

Just finishing Toxic Town on Netflix, quite good, a real life drama about birth defects in babies caused by heavy metal contamination when the old steel works were being redeveloped.

Strong cast, Jodie Whittaker, Rory Kinnear, Robert Carlyle.

Yep! I enjoyed Joe Wilkinson’s speech.
Daisy May Cooper seems to spend the whole series with her face screwed up!
