I'm going to go out on a limb and say that looking back in a few years, we could be saying the ground move and absence of the football club was one of the best things to happen to us.

Lets face it, crowds had been dwindling for years and relegation certainlydidnt help. However, today, I have a feeling that the marches, protests and having the club so far for so long has actually strengthened our supporter base. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I honestly think that even if we lose 5-0 against Gillingham, you will hear cheers from us just at the fact we are playing at home again, and thats the kind of unity only being absent for so long can bring to a group of supporters.

It may still be too soon for everyone to feel like this, but its how I'm feeling at the minute and I like that feeling.

I get what your saying apart from the fans singing at 5 - 0 loss lol.

Maybe this could make the club stronger, Coventry fc has been stripped to the bone of all assets, no longer pays insane rent, no longer pays high wages and is certainly run at a fraction of the price of even 5 years ago.

We could do a southampton/Swansea and rise from the ashes, just imagine a average crowd of 17k (through the season) glad to be back home driving the team on

I understand your sentiment however I'm not totally convinced.

Its been terrible, we have become a joke and perhaps terminal fracture between the supporters who the vast majority boycotted and the small minority who didn't.

Your are taking a positive from a huge negative. "They" do say that's the way to be in life.

Lets hope you are right.

Returning is a big step. Hopefully this can pave a permanent return to th Ricoh. But the way SISU operate I am not convinced this debacle is not over yet?

I had lost interest in football - hardly watched the world cup, not looked at a back page for weeks, but heard the news driving home from work at 6 o'clock and got gosse bumbs!! I'm hooked but still have this nagging feeling about our owners, they still have a long way to build you my trust.

Just shows how bad thigs are when we are celebrating playing home games at home!

No, but it'd be nice to have a month with a good feeling, just a month!

I am another who had lost interest and started the World cup watching every every early game but burned out early and didn't even watch England against Costa Rica. Yesterday the love came back and I started looking for shirts for the kids (much against the bosses wishes who has been trying to turn them into Blues fans like her dad).

We need to be seriously challenging for the top spots, that means further investment in the squad lets see where the fans new hero Steve Waggott goes with that he has about 3million quid transfer income to play with, I won't be holding my breath.

I understand why you think that right now. But give it a month and it will all be back to normal.

How many of the Hill era fans will return? This was going to be a problem anyway but this exile will have done more harm. We may be in for a shock when things settle down. 10K would be a good turnout. New fans needed. New owners.

I'll be there.

A club the size of Coventry City should be nowhere near League 1.

Hopefully yesterdays news is the first step on the recovery process for you guys.

Unless we are winning.

Remember "people like to watch winning football"

I meant normal as is we'll all be used to being home again. I wouldn't like to predict the attendances.

Anyway, didn't you say you wouldn't be happy if we came home anything after the first game of the season? ;)

Agree with all of the above. I think it will generally make the club stronger in the end. I think a lot of fans didn't really bother with the Ricoh at times and could take it or leave it but since it's been snatched away from us for 500 odd days, all of a sudden, to us fans that piece of metal has become the most importantly missed object, now we are back we want to enjoy it. We will get used to being home again but at least we are a normal club again so to speak. I really do believe even with SISU and ACL and Council all still involved, this homecoming is the start of a big recovery for us to get back up the leagues.
